Title says it all really. I have bought a few things but wonder whether I am missing something obvious..... Thanks!

pmsl at some of these replies. DD also loves carrying around tat in bags. Love the look of those princess dolls. I have just bought some clothes for her baby annabel doll (she insists it is a boy....) so no doubt I will spend all winter changing the babies clothes.....

my 3yo dd3 mostly likes to play with her big sisters are playing, but on her own I think bike (with stabilisers), scooter, dolls house, playdough, and jigsaws are about the favourites. She loves drawing and colouring and craft (cutting and pasting) too.

After those top favourites she likes Duplo, playmobile, sylvanian families, polly pocket, baby doll in buggy.

My Dd likes playing with toy animals, her colour doodle drawing thing, scooter and dressing up as pirates and mermaids best.

This Christmas I am getting her Scooby Doo toys and roller skates.

pmsl laughing at crap in bag - my dd has about 5 different bags on the go at the moment - and has even got a selction of plastic carrier bags filled with crap hanging of the handles of her toy pushchair - just like mummy! I couldn't find any pants for her in her drawer this morning and discovered that she had found a crappy old wash bag from the bathroom and stuffed 20 pairs of pants into it.

My dd's current fave toys are fisher price little people from the 70's/80's - either stuff from my childhood or from car boots. She plays and plays with this stuff. Also adores playdoh and plays a lot in her Rose Petal cottage. She loves all things Disney princess but doesn't often play with her princess dolls. She is interested in make-up and hair (not sure where she got that from) so I have got her a Disney Princess 'Ariel' styling head - £7 in Asda at the moment. No doubt it will end up filthy and with matted hair in a week but I think she'll love it.

Dressing up
Bike/scooter (getting a 'big girl bike' from Santa)
Food/teaset/shopping trolley
Big brother's Star Wars Lego (when he is out)
Other Lego (when he is in)
All kinds of drawing/crafts/sticking
Baking

She'll be 4 in a fortnight.

Also very into the crap in bags thing, and she wants a light saber for her birthday!

DD has just informed me that she wants "critter animals" for Christmas - eventually I realised that she means Sylvanian families - they are called calico critters in the states. I see that Fennels DD has them - anyone else rate them?

mega blocks (duplo) fisher price little people - love them - plne, bus, doll house of little people, trampoline, swing set, slide, sand pit, trikes, tea set things - fab one from ELC mil sent to us in Aus, hand bags, dress ups, my little pony, play doh, puzzles.

Fennel · 18/11/2007 11:03

Twirl, actually my 3yo doesn't have Sylvanian families but her big sisters have them and she just wants and plays with everything they have. I'd say 3 is a bit young for them in that they have lots of fiddly bits and removable clothes and it'll all get lost rather quickly unless you are very careful. IME 3yos take all the clothes off anything clothed so you might as well stick to unclothed animals. But my 7 and 6 year old like them so at least you know they won't grown out of them too quickly.
