I want to make some homemade sweets, things like truffles, mint creams, fudge. But I don't have any recipes and wondered if the power of mn could help Anything nice and simple for a not-so-great cook but willing to try

I have found a recipe for coconut ice which looks simple so will be trying that out.

Thank you

no feel free to ask things

I was going to use cellophane and ribbon or maybe old jars with a bit of material and ribbon not sure. Need recipes first

rocky road

rocky road recipe

choc melts - 2 pkts - white/dark/milk - whatever you like ( 375g pkts) could use cooking choc
2pkts marshmallows cut in half
jellies or gummy sweets
coconut
nuts ( but not if they are for presents)

Melt the choc
lay the sweets in a slice tine
pour the choc over and refrigerate until sets

cut into squares

white choc cranberry fudge

3 375g pkts of white choc melts (or cooking choc)
2 tins - 395g sweetened condensed milk
3/4 cup icing sugar - have to check this
1 cup chopped dried cranberries
(I also put in sultanas and would do some sort of nut if I knew the person did not have a nut allergy)

  1. In a double boiler ( I just use saucepan inside another that has boiling water in it ) over a low heat - melt and mix the sweetened condensed milk and the white choc melts
  2. when melted and thick, remove from the heat, add the icing sugar and the friut/nuts.
  3. pour into a baking paper lined slice tray.
  1. Chill in the fridge until set ( I leav emine over night)
  1. CUt into fingers/squares. Arrange in a bowl/mug/dish etc. I then cover it with cellophane. I ahve also wrapped the fingers in cellophane individually.

i got some seconds pottery dishes from the markets or some second hand nice bowls from the charity shop. Wrapped it up in cellophane. For some of the presents I found a very nice but cheap christmas tree bauble and put that on too.

I am going to try and make vanilla truffles this year - not sure how it will go.

I used the cranberry recipe for my dd1's teachers and I made enough for five decent sized portions.

Eddas · 13/11/2007 21:52

thanks for those eidsvold. Sounds simple enough

Tablet this is just one recipe I use. They are all similar wherever you look. It should turn out looking similar to Fudge, but harder. And more delicious

re: containers for goodies
Au natural have gift tins for £1-£2. they aren't the nicest patterns but can be dolled up with ribbon or what not.
