I have sorted DS's presents but am all out of inspiration for stocking fillers.

Will do choc coins and an orange and one of these www.gltc.co.uk/fcp/product/-/Toys_and_GamesNew/Little-Hands-Card-Holders/3008 but am stuck otherwise for inspiration.

Have looked at Hawkins site and just get confused!

Any suggestions for things that have been hits? Don't want total tat.

Top trumps, uno

Leslaki · 12/11/2007 18:53

practical jokes set - I've got a pack from yellow Moon www.yellowmoon.org.uk/product-Joke-Box-D3641.htm)
and it's got all sorts of tricks and things in it, like a 'spider' in a plastic ice cube, floating sugar, fake poo etc etc - everything a 6 yo boy would love! He thinks these sorts a things are hilarious. I've aslo got him a few magic coin trick type things, a book of My first Knock Knock jokes as I am fed up with the 'banana/orange you glad I didn't say banana' one! Light up tooth brush, Spiderman bubble bath. super hero pants and socks, one of those poohing reindeer (choc drops) from hawkins bazaar, Power ranger Panini stickers, other stickers and a Lindt choc reindeer (99p from Home Bargains - £2 everywhere else!)

Thanks LadyMuck - have Uno and he has about 4 sets of Top Trumps.

I got DS one of those Magic Trees in his stocking when he was 6. He absolutely loved watching the crystals grow on christmas day and said it was his best present. He had a magic ball last year and really liked that too.

Leslaki · 12/11/2007 18:54

agree with Top Trumps - he has the Power ranger ones and loves them. My dad has got him the Dr who ones for Xmas otherwise they would ahve been in stocking too!

Buda · 12/11/2007 18:56

Ooh Leslaki - thanks! He wanted a Gross Magic set which he isn't getting but the joke set sounds good.

We have the apple/orange version of that knock knock joke!

We have things that always go in stockings. Bubbles, a ball, post it notes, a packet of novelty plasters, a Hot wheels car, a tool of some sort, note book and pen, one of those slot together gliders, a balloon, top trumps...then a few other things, mostly from Hawkins because I live quite near an actual Hawkins shop you can go into and look at the things ao your head doesn't go round and round.
Oh, and I'm going to put disposable cameras in them this year.

Last year I completely forgot about stockings until after they announced they were putting them out on Christmas Eve .

I hadn't forgotten Father Christmas all together, he gets the main pressie in our house, but no stockings

I made them up from things we had in the house:

Fruit shoot (big treat in our house)
Mini pack of smarties, as above.
2 toys cars each out of a pack one of them had been given for birthday and never opened.
Various bits and pieces I had left over from previous year's party bags. I think there were bouncy balls, foam planes, blow outs and glitter pens.
Some books that were going to go under the tree.

The boys (then 3&5) didn't notice, thought their stockings were great and DS1 said yesterday that he hopes FC brings a Fruit Shoot again this year .

I will remember this year, but am very tempted to make them very low value again.

My mum always put in things like a character toothbrush and matey bubble bath.

Leslaki · 12/11/2007 20:19

thanks Seeker, I'd forgotten I'd bought 2 disposable cameras for them this year - need to remeber where I've put them!!

tassisssss · 12/11/2007 20:20

ds usually gets a car, a face cloth, some novelty sweets (last year in a lightening mcqueen tin that he still uses), a book, an animal/dinosuar from ELC (though at 4.5 this may be the last year we do this), socks if he needs them, felt pens if he needs them, something silly (last year a sticky spiderman that crawls down walls...well does until is covered in fluff; this year a rat that climbs up the wall so similar), this year he's also getting magnetic letters coz I saw them cheap!, usually something noisy (whistle, gazoo etc but may miss this this year)...and of course choc coins and a satsuma

i'm so excited that Hawkins Bazaar has now opened in glasgow and i'm off there tomorrow for a day of child-free shopping!

ChippyMinton · 12/11/2007 20:30

playmobil special figure
big tube of smarties
slipper socks
a joke book
a science experiment kit

bambi06 · 12/11/2007 20:34

Furball · 12/11/2007 21:07

Buda · 13/11/2007 06:28

Went to bed early last night so didn't get back to thread but thanks for all suggestions. Think I have my head around it now!

I just seemed to be going around in circles and not actually getting anywhere!

i always put a comic in as well

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2007 16:42

Apart from the usual choc coins, satsuma etc, we put stationery items (e.g. pens, rubbers, pencil sharpeners etc) a paperback book, small bubble bath/ novelty soap/ flannel/ sponge, small game (e.g. card game),Playmobil figure. My ds (nearly 7) is really into lifeboats at the moment, so I have got him a few small items from the RNLI shop (bookmark, stickers, etc)

bozza · 13/11/2007 16:51

Mys 6yo DS so far as:

felt tips
gel pens (my two love these)
pants
hot wheels car
power rangers notepad/pen/pencil set
two knights
Cars cars
A Cars cup

sophy · 13/11/2007 17:21

My ds's always get small book with a xmas theme, dvd (2nd hand from charity shop or ebay to buy us a xmas morning lie-in), themed underwear and socks, small bubble bath, new flannel and toothbrush, stickers. This year I am supplementing with a few more fun bits and bobs from paperchase, including a mini calculator for the oldest (8).

ssd · 13/11/2007 17:28

great idea's here!

bozza · 14/11/2007 09:26

Have also got DS a mini football electronic game on a keyring from Boots.

seeker · 14/11/2007 10:34

Forgot a comic, something noisy, some chocolate and something silly to wind up so that they can have races.

foxinsocks · 14/11/2007 10:43

ooh haven't thought about this yet

probably one of those high bouncy balls (still v popular here)

marbles

football stickers

a pack of cards (he is very keen on card games!)

maybe some football socks

either big tube of smarties of a chocolate selection pack thing

Hadn't thought about bubble bath/sponges/flannels - good idea

Something silly that you can launch across the room or hurt each other with

Also, I give mine both new pyjamas on Christmas Eve. Found some beautiful ones in John Lewis that I know they will love!
