Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could get my boys for Christmas? They will be 3 and 5 on the 17th of December (yeah, I know, blinking awful planning) and as you can imagine, it's bad enough thinking of birthday pressies witjout having to think of Christmas ones at the same time!

What does your child have that they really enjoy playing with? It can be anything, I just need some inspiration!!

My ds (now 6 nearly 7) started getting into Playmobil at age 5, and still plays with it more than any other toy. He also likes Lego. He started playing with Brio builder system at age 3. He is very much into "construction" type toys, and also likes k'nex, magnetix, meccano etc.

TheMadHouse · 11/11/2007 16:17

I have just bought a tesco metal detector for my friends 5 year old. He is also really in to the solar system and loves any books about how to at the moment.

My DS1 is 2.6 and heavily into racing cars, so on his list has been a my first scalextrix and also books charli and lola and tractors.

I have not spent a lot on them, but my bday is 20 december so I know the feeling of not getting many pressies or just getting joint ones

Squirdle · 11/11/2007 16:20

Thanks Whoops

SoMchToBits, have considered Playmobile. My twin nephews have quite a bit and I love it!!
Don't really want to do Lego as DS1 (13) has loads and loads and is on the verge of giving it up!!

Infact tis a pain having one much older as he does have lots of the construction toys, which last over the years and can be passed down to DS2 and 3!!

Have thought about a farm for DS3 (who will be 3) and on another thread am considering scooters for their birthdays.

They love the Plan City/Brio stuff but more so DS3 now.

Madhouse, i don't really like joint presents for my 2 either. Not for their birthday between them and definately not a birthday/christmas one. Tis 2 separate days as far as I'm concerned!! My mum did do a joint present for thier birthdays last year but also gave them a seperate pressie each too, so I didn't mind that.

Quite agree with you about not going for joint presents. We are Playmobil mad in our house - ds and I both really love it, and he spends ages making up little scenes with his sets. Today we have had a large building site in the middle of the living room with everyone working very hard (except Norman the Foreman who just drinks cups of tea all the time!)

ChippyMinton · 11/11/2007 21:49

Playmobil and Lego rule here too. Does it have to be a toy? Could you promise and plan a trip to Legoland for them (it re-opens in March)? Or something big for the garden?

Squirdle · 12/11/2007 07:34

We do have a swing and climbing frame in the garden already so I'm not sure we'd fit anything else in!! I'm also a bit wary about getting a big joint pressie now as DS2 seems to be growing up fast (school an all!)

With their birthday/christams money last year we got annual passes to the zoo which is 15 minutes down the road. It was such a good idea as we have used them loads! I just felt they didn't need more toys and the zoo pass would be great fun for them. Not sure I'd do it as a main present though...but thinking Legoland passes for next year if they get money again!! We are aren't that far fron there at all!

Looks like playmobile is winning atm

Castle and knights, train set, orchard games, farm, zoo, pirates, dinosaurs, playdoh, knex - ELC is good for getting ideas as is Mail Order Express.

mintydixcharrington · 12/11/2007 12:37

also if you haven't got one a little electronic keyboard is v popular with my 4 year old
something like this

Anna8888 · 12/11/2007 12:42

Watch
Scooter
Bicycle
Lego
IMac

Squirdle · 12/11/2007 17:28

IMac Is that not for grown ups?? (Can you tell I don't have a clue )

Scooters are probably what we will get them for their birthdays, DS2 has a castle, pirate ship is a possibility. We do have an electric keyboard thingy (batteries run out atm and I'm not in agreat hurry to replace) Farm also something I'm thinking about although zoo may be better.

DS (5) - Hot Wheels track

Anna8888 · 13/11/2007 09:08

IMac - you can do lots of really fun creative stuff with it. Children love it.
