Everyone I speak to has done half their shopping, written lists of what they need to get, bought cards, wrapping paper etc, and one friend has wrapped up the odd thing.

I have barely started to think about Christmas yet, let alone started buying things!

Anyone else out there still as unprepared as me?

WanderingTrolley · 09/11/2007 18:53

What is this "Christmas" of which you speak?

[denial]

Fireflytoo · 09/11/2007 18:55

I grew up in South Africa where we spent Christmas in a caravan by the sea... we woke up, went to church ..opened pressies the night before!!! ...then spent the day on the beach with several trips for biscuits during the day.

....so it takes a lot to get me interested. We have been eating everyone's favourite foods instead of prescribed christmas fayre and seeing as dd2's birthday is on 20 Dec....i really can't get bothered....In the week before xmas I take a rucksack and a list to the Trafford Centre....arrive promptly by opening time and bulldoze my way through by lunch...

...but deep down inside a little voice is wailing..... i want to do the trimmings and all from wreaths to bread sauce...

maybe one day!

southeastastra · 09/11/2007 18:55

it's only just november. don't plan christmas until, er a couple of weeks before

biglips · 09/11/2007 19:22

south...it is only 45 days away!!!!

weebleswobble · 09/11/2007 19:28

I'm laying the table tomorrow.

Bluestocking · 09/11/2007 19:29

Haven't done anything much, but have lots of cards from last year, and have some stocking fillers already. Perhaps I will do the cake this weekend? My mum does puds and mincemeat for all of us so I don't have to think about that. Weebles, love your traditional Jewish Christmas!

onlyjoking9329 · 09/11/2007 19:33

i have done not a thing for christmas. just not feeling in the christmas spirit yet.

Pinkchampagne · 09/11/2007 19:42

ScienceTeacher · 09/11/2007 19:49

We don't generally do anything for Christmas until after Advent Sunday.

Minum · 09/11/2007 19:52

Absolutely agree ScienceTeacher - wouldnt dream of doing any preps till advent (other than ensure we have invites for the whole of the Christmas period, so I've no work to do ) Anyway, too many big parties in November to organise/attend to think about December yet

ScienceTeacher · 09/11/2007 19:53

I guess we don't have the kind of Christmasses that need a lot of organising.

francagoestohollywood · 09/11/2007 20:05

Ages ago I bought a Luke Skywalker and a Dart Vader figurines for ds. That's about it. Haven't even sorted out the advent calendar.

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 09/11/2007 20:07

I am well up for it this year - soooo excited

weebleswobble · 09/11/2007 20:07

I can see I'm going to have to gather the Jewish contingent to organise you lot

Fireflytoo · 09/11/2007 22:18

yes please weebles

LyraSilvertongue · 09/11/2007 22:23

I haven't bought anything but I have started thinking about what to get DSs. Oh, and I have Christmas cards from the January sales but I've got no idea where I put them.
Does that count?

NappiesShnappiesPANTSgalore · 09/11/2007 22:26

you are the only one, you disorganised slattern, you.

ive bought some stocking stuff. and i found a cd of 'dad' music that id forgotten to give for fathers day the other day. and made (and lost) some ineffectual, incomplete Lists.

so thats tons more than you then

Flibbertyjibbet · 09/11/2007 22:31

DS1's birthday is 18th December. I start my xmas stuff after that.
My excuse being that I want my little darlings birthday to be special and not overshadowed by xmas. But you all know that its really cos I'm LAYYYYYZZZZZEEEEEE!

But I do buy my xmas pressies in the sales and all through the year so not like I have a lot to do come 19th Dec

foofi · 09/11/2007 22:39

Ditto - dd's birthday is 22nd Dec and I don't like the house to be Christmassy for her birthday, so we save Christmas stuff until after then.

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 09/11/2007 23:30

Its my birthday on 18th december too but I still love all the christmassy build up!

PeachesMcLean · 09/11/2007 23:32

In response to OP:

Oh good lord no! I haven't done a thing either.

Mid December is good for me

Blu · 09/11/2007 23:38

Well, I did buy some Christmas cards very cheap at DS's school summer fete. Does that count?

It might if I knew where they were, I suppose.
