Want to get dd a doll's house for Xmas-can't bear to get one from Early Learning and the one in John Lewis isn't painted.

I want a large,girly looking one-any ideas?

What age is your DD. Mine is 3 and I got her one from Argos for only £40 but the furniture that comes with it isn't painted and "self assembly" speaks for itself!

I looked at the one in ELC, whilst it is expensive by the time you get the furniture and dolls - it is pretty.

Have you tried ebay - they've usually got loads.

What about these here i have got my dd the one half way down for £50 instead of £100

haggisaggis · 07/11/2007 16:17

How about here

Wheelybug · 07/11/2007 16:19

I am getting dd one from Letterbox - they have quite a few different ones. They are v. similar to the elc one. DD loves purple best, followed by pink and they have a purple and pink one so that sold it to me !! www.letterbox.co.uk/Dolls_Houses_cat275/. If you order before 9 Nov online you get 10% off too.

We got the DTs the ToysR us one recommended by LilyLoo for their third birthday last week and it is fantastic. Also a brilliant bargain in my opinion as it contains loads of furniture, which is much nicer than I expected for the pricetag. It worked out much cheaper than buying the house separately then getting furniture. Didn't want to break the bank as they love it now but you can never tell how long a three year old's interest will last

I bought my DD's dollhouse from a website called Toy Choice (it'll come out on google). I found that their prices were slightly cheaper than the other better-knowned shops/websites. They stock so many lovely wooden toys as well.

southeastastra · 08/11/2007 14:29

lovely ones on ebay look! (wish i had girls)

southeastastra · 08/11/2007 14:31

cheap at half the price - not!

lucykate · 08/11/2007 14:34

what about playmobil?, the do a victorian style mansion or there is the fairy tale castle. we have the castle, dd, 5, loves it

HammerHeadShark · 08/11/2007 17:14

That first one on e-bay for £73 plus £17 p+p is the one I bought here for £50 here. wonder if the seller bought it for the reduced price - still good value IMHO. It even has little wooden cups in the kitchen, books in the bookshelves and little wooden bottles of wine - me and DH have been known to have a go ourselves, just to sort it out of course, after the DTs have gone to bed

southeastastra · 08/11/2007 18:39

oh yes! it's a lovely house isn't it, maybe i can get one and hide it away until everyone goes out and i can play with it

DrNortherner · 08/11/2007 18:44

Sue Ryder ones are beautiful here

My Mum is a shop volunteer and they are very popular for christmas this year. Beautifully made and helping a worthwhile charity.

SoMuchToBits · 08/11/2007 19:01

I would agree with lucykate re Playmobil. The houses and furniture come with lots of little accessories that the people can actually hold etc, and I think would give years of play value

LIZS · 08/11/2007 19:41

dd loves her Playmobil Mansion, she had it at just over 4 and still palys with it a lot 2 years on. Costs a fair bit to kit out though
