The classic b/w one with James Thingummy "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings".
The Sound of Music.

When the grinch stole Christmas - we all love it here. Not the new one with Jim Carey, the old one with Boris Karloff.

Make sure you don't watch "Bad Santa" with the kids.

MrsArchieTheInventor · 06/11/2007 15:07

Depends on how old the kids are but Scrooged is always a good one.

Not really suitable for kids but Trading Places always gets me in the Christmas mood and has done for the last 15 years!!

laurliemonkey · 06/11/2007 15:08

muppets christmas carol definitely, although dh complains when i say its michael caine's greatest ever performance.

i think its a wonderful life is the classic one though, and rightly so

Theclosetpagansbesom · 06/11/2007 15:16

The Snowman - not really a film but 30 mins of beautiful music and animation.

Christmas Vacation because Randy Quaid is just hilarious as Cousin Eddie.

cleaninglady · 06/11/2007 15:21

another vote for Polar Express - i think i like it more than the children though Also my guilty secret is either Love Actually or The Holiday (Kate Winslet/Jude Law etc) on my own with a bottle of Cava and popcorn - oh im so sophisticated !!!

BettySpaghetti · 06/11/2007 15:23

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

( the children like the film, I lust after respect Johnny Depp as an actor)

dooley1 · 06/11/2007 15:28

for teenagers and adults - when Harry met Sally, there is a lovely Chrsitmas bit in that

saltire · 06/11/2007 15:30

Saw a trailer for a film out at Christmas with Vince Vaughn who is Santa's brother Fred . The man who says No no no no no no no from teh Vicar of Dibley is in it as well. Off to see if I can find out what it's called

Bumblelion · 06/11/2007 15:30

For me and my family, it has to be National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Always makes me appreciate that however hectic I think my Christmas is, there is always someone worse.

BananaPudding · 06/11/2007 15:31

White Christmas with Bing Crosby
Trading places (only for adults)
The Ref (adults)

Home Alone
Charlie Brown Christmas
