kids or adults or both?!!

Flier · 06/11/2007 09:08

depends what price bracket you want.

Hassled · 06/11/2007 09:11

I've bought absolutely nothing but have made the Christmas pud and cake [smug]. We're visiting family in Ireland for Christmas so my only shopping criteria will be that everything has to be very light .

Budabang · 06/11/2007 09:16

I've made jewellery for my mum, auntie and MIL.
My dad has asked for handkerchiefs so thats what he's got and I've asked the lovely Miaou to embroider his initials on to them.
BIL and SIL have a collage of photos of their wedding reception as its their 1st anniversary on xmas eve so we're combining it as anniversary and xmas pressie.

My children are just getting small bits that I know they would like rather than go for a big pressie.

bozza · 06/11/2007 09:45

I still have my sisters, BIL, Grandad, nephews to buy for - have been concentrating on DH's side.

Oh I have got DS's childminder a pendant - she wears a lot of costume jewellry so I hope she likes it.

UnquietDad · 06/11/2007 09:46

Another parent outside school before half-term told me she had already

bought all her presents
wrapped them all
bought and written all her cards and stamped them ready to send.

I smiled and said "Oh really? Gosh, that's organised."

I thought "Get a fecking LIFE, woman."

IdrisTheDragon · 06/11/2007 09:47

I ahve bought my mum and dad a digital photo frame.

That is it so far .

Can't really cope with thinking about Christmas until after DS's birthdya on the 22nd (although really need to think about that one .

lilolilmanchester · 06/11/2007 10:58

We don't buy for many people but the ones we do buy for are difficult!!! Am also stuck, so watching this thread with interest.

Mrs Embarrassed: tell us ages of the kids and something about the adults. Do you have to post or will you be seeing all the people? I find it so much easier to give other people ideas than to work out my own shopping list! Also keep seeing lovely gifts I'd buy if Ihad the right person to buy it for IYSWIM!

People I have bought for so far:

Mum: electric steamer

Friend's teenageers: Girl (student) cookery book and will buy some goodies for the new term (biscuits etc)
Boy: football boot bag and a sports biography

Best friend's daughter: earrings; Twins at St Clares boxed set
Best friend's son: lego & set of factual books

Family friend: usually buy her clothes as she doesn't have much money and not good at buying stuff for herself. maybe a jumper this year.

German friends: wooden garlic bread & dip holder; their student daughter: cook book; their teenage son: football boot bag

My DCs have a list of books, CDs, DVDS most of which I have asked other people to get so no idea what to get them

Nephews: don't live nearby so have an arrangement that SIL will buy for them from us, and we will by for our DCs from them. Saves on postage.

BIL & SIL on the other side: their DCs are grown up so we have reverted to buying for the adults, they usually send our DCs money.
Not a clue this year. Have done wine/Oxfam unwrapped/CDs/DVDs etc . Help please! Need to post.

DH: not a clue, he also has birthday in December. Am thinking workbench; MP3 player; bits and pieces.

For most of the adults (apart from parents and ils) we have suggested token presents only, say £5 each. This idea has been received very well...
So for these people we will be getting things like bottle of wine (look out for those on promotion e.g. originally £7.99 or £9.99 and now half price) or box of fairtrade chocs.
