Easter gifts

Sorry for detailing slightly but I'm thinking people in here maybe more inclined to celebrate Easter too.

Am looking for gift ideas for (H&C) teens. Just wondered whether anyone else does some gifts alongside chocolate.

I shall await replies telling me Easter is not about gifts. You do it your way, I'll do it mine, after the past year I just feel they deserve some treats.

My 2 aren't all that bothered about chocolate so I do an Easter hunt (round the garden again this year, no doubt!) for various presents- usually the sort of things that I would put in a stocking at Christmas! Tends to be stuff that they can use in the summer, nothing high value, just odds and ends.

You could get some ideas by searching the stocking filler threads on here!

My DS and DD (21 and 18) love their Easter Bags with chocolate eggs (usually one large one -about £8ish and some Lindt rabbits ) .

A couple of years ago Revolution (Superdrug) did some nice make-up sets in a golden egg .

Last Easter was very different , Lockdown Easter with supermarkets running short . I had to pre-cook and freeze my roast potatoes because I wasn't sure I could find any nearer Easter .

Usually we do gardening on the Good Friday , shopping on the Saturday then spend Easter Sunday and Monday relaxing (and eating Grin )

I didn't do an Easter Tree last year (new cats) but might do this time .
We put those tiny yellow chickens in jars and decorate the table .

I buy my DC new clothes ( the underwear, pyjamas, loungwear ) for Christmas ( Dec 1st Box not Christmas Eve Hamper) so might do for Easter .
I've ordered a sample of aftershave for DS so if he likes it I might buy him more ( he's a nightmare to buy for , he'd prefer money tbh)

lachy · 04/03/2021 19:41

I'll be doing something with DD, I've got her a couple of craft kits and I'll get her something else along with an egg.

I am thinking of putting a few little decorations around and about - I feel the same as you OP it has been a very long year, and we need a bit of cheering up 🐣

Mrsfussypants1 · 04/03/2021 21:20

I think we all need something to look forward to right now so im with you on making Easter that something. Ive bought for my mum and her dog :easter mug (bargain £1.50 argos) and Aldi easter hot choc bombs, home bargains white choc candle, book and an egg I'll also get daffodils closer to the time, bought and egg and bunny toy set for her dog. Ive probably only spent £15 on mum but it will really cheer her up as she'd normally be spending Easter at ours surrounded by family. Ive made something similar for adult dd and son in law but added wax melts and a gift card for a easter food shop as i know money is tight for them right now due to covid job loses, finding new jobs then dd having to give hers up to homeschool grandaughter, i wanted them to have a little extra. Im so very proud of them. I've made grandaughter a hamper and bought new school shoes and some clothes for spring/summer again this is me trying to help out. I know there are many who would say we are doing to much and let them stand on their own two feet, they are proud and never ask for a thing but this is what our family do, Dh & i are doing ok and can afford it, they would do it for us if it were needed. Im hoping this time next year we will all be together doing our usual easter plans, farm, baking and crafts.

My DS has an autumn birthday so I'm going to use easter as an excuse to get some summer toys. I think I'm going to get him a slide, as it's something that I would have bought anyway. I've also got some hollow plastic eggs that I'll fill with little things like crayons/happyland figures for an egg hunt (he's only 17 months so I don't want too much chocolate). I'm not wrapping anything up though. I draw the line at that!

@Mrsfussypants1 I have just been reading the thread and what you posted above is just lovely. That is such a nice way to live. I think it's really lovely that you and your husband are so supportive and you clearly have a very close family. Your post really warmed my heart 💖.

I just wanted to add that the works has some nice Easter craft items in for children and there's usually a discount code going around for them.

For teens lush has some nice Easter bath bombs if they like lush. Did see this if anyone is after an alternative to chocolate

Great thread!
I think I’m going to go out next week and get some Easter baskets and fill them with the various Easter chocolates I’ve picked up over the last few weeks for my DC. And then probably get them a proper Easter egg each to go alongside them. We live abroad so nice Cadbury’s chocolate is expensive! Might get my girls a little Easter cuddly teddy, perhaps an Easter colouring book if I can find any, to also go in their baskets.
Our son is 13 so will be happy with a basket of chocolate!

WeAllHaveWings · 12/03/2021 12:35

bought and egg and bunny toy set for her dog

sounds lovely and thoughtful. can I just check if the egg is for the dog and "chocolate" it is a dog fake "chocolate"............

Mrsfussypants1 · 12/03/2021 13:12

Oh if anyone has the M&S app on your phone and a sparks card do check it! I had an email last night with a reward to claim of a free jar of Percy pigs worth £15 free. It includes the easter jar. Just picked mine up this morning its a lovely gift though I'll probably get in trouble for the excess sugar!

Mrsfussypants1 · 12/03/2021 13:14

Yes, the dog egg was from pets at home i think its peanut butter or carob. The toy was also from rhe same shop it was £6 and includes vegetable easter themed chews. Best for small dogs as both toy and chews were small.

CottonHeadedNinnyMug · 13/03/2021 07:09

I have a 4 year old and have bought her lots of Peter Rabbit themed bits... The Easter Bunny does leave things under the Easter tree from Thursday - Monday, including chocolate and little gifts from my family. No major gifts, just little things with an Easter or Spring theme!

Cattitudes · 13/03/2021 07:44

When they were younger I sometimes got them books/dvd. Even though they are teens they still love a treasure hunt, though each year I need to up my game to make it more challenging.

EvilOnion · 13/03/2021 07:56

We don't bother with Easter ' gifts' as such but know plenty people who go all out so I don't think it's unusual!

We do like an Easter egg and used to decorate boiled eggs to race down a hill. I have no idea why, we just did this at school when I was younger and thought it was fun 🤣

ShaunaTheSheep · 13/03/2021 08:15

One has asked for an egg in a mug, if anyone’s seen any?

I’m decorating a twig tree and will add chocolate eggs on Easter Sunday.
Probably won’t do other gifts.

treeeeemendous · 19/03/2021 12:46

Sorry only just come back to this thread!

Have bought the Easter eggs now and some decorations Blush only from Home Bargains so not spent too much. Bought the teens a book each as well. I do wish primark was open for little bits and pieces but might pop into Superdrug and hope they have some bits.

Am going to speak to butcher about getting a turkey and doing a big Christmas style dinner again

@ShaunaTheSheep tescos have a mini egg Easter egg that is a large egg in a mug.

We always do gifts and have a treasure hunt with wee chocolate eggs and bunnies to collect leading to a bigger present stash. So last year I think the 8/11 year olds got outdoor stuff as we’d gone into lockdown and I wanted some outdoor learning stuff. Wee grandson got some bath toys and a wee paddling pool.
This year things are getting back to “normal” so ds may get some football stuff for his return to sport and dd some clothes as she’s nearly 12 and into her clothing!!

Isadora2007 · 19/03/2021 13:07

And I’m working on Easter weekend so going to have an Easter Monday or good Friday thing. With a nice meal and movie for evening time. Also have a new baby grandchild to get some fluffy bunny ears for! 😂

BabyBooDueNov21 · 19/03/2021 14:24

I've found my people Grin

Will get the DC a big egg and a few little eggs each. Have got a big chick with little hollow eggs inside from B&M that I'll fill and hide Smile usually get them a new dress for the summer (boo to Primark being closed!) and either a toy/game/book of some description. I really need to get organised!

Bearyinlove · 19/03/2021 14:38

I have bought some easter decorations and easter crafts and treats for the kids this year. I usually do anyway but definitely gone for it a lot more this year. T k maxx had some great things online and I also echo the home bargains recommendation for crafts. The works has been good for easter crafts too.

ShaunaTheSheep · 19/03/2021 20:41

@treeeeemendous thank you, I bought them and also the creme egg ones Smile
