There's beautiful ones in Dusseldorf too and flights are cheap from most of the UK, but it depends where you're coming from.
They are amazing - the first time we took DD, who's almost 4, she couldn't stop grinning and going "oooooo, look at that!"

There's a German Christmas Market in Edinburgh, probably not a patch on the real thing but not bad if you want one in the UK. There's also an ice rink, ferris wheel, etc etc.

If you are happy to fly there are loads of options, just look at www.skyscanner.net to compare all cheap flights. Pick a destination in Germany or Austria and you'll find a market there. Alternatively how about a hop across the Channel to Bruges, could even go by train.

Lincoln has a big xmas market, first weekend in Dec. People come from all over the world, inc Germany to visit it.

Nice atmosphere as ost of it is in castle grounds. But it does get very crowded especially in the evenings so not sure I'd want to take toddlers in there unless you can carry them on your shoulders. Its not buggy friendly at all.

Almost all German airports have towns nearby with decent Christmas markets.

Depending on where you are flying from,

Easyjet flies to Dortmund, the market there is lovely. You can take the train from Dortmund to Düsseldorf or Cologne.

German Wings fly to Cologne/Bonn. Good connection to Cologne town center (train)

Ryanair fly to Weeze near Düsseldorf but it is more difficult to get to the nearest big town. I would not really recommend this unless you want to hire a car.

Airberlin fly to Düsseldorf and Cologne. Just looked at the website, they have good deals at the moment to Düsseldorf.

Manchester has them. The products are more expensive than in Germany, but it depends on where you live as to whether flights out to Germany are cheaper than trains to e.g. manchester/Edinburgh. Gluhwein in Manchester marekets is authentic, as is Bratwurst, and cheese stalls do free tastings. I buy very little cos of price, but occasionally find things which otherwise I'd only be able to buy in Germany.

Bath has one but really does get backed. Was too much last year for dd (then 2) but Bath does loos nice a Christmas. Went to Bruges a few years ago for New Year and it was really festive - don't know about christmas markets there, but the whole place lent itself the Christmas
