Hi, I hope someone out there might be able to help me.

I have agreed with my partner that we will only spend £20 on each other this year for Christmas, (new baby, maternity leave etc!!)

I am having problem thinking of something original and I was hoping someone out there may have some ideas.

Here's hoping
Thanks

Not very original but I'm getting dh (from my dd) a little frame with I love my dad underneath (made by spaceform - completely glass and only £9.99) because it's his first xmas as a dad. Then I've got him some clothes from me iyswim.

if I'm doing low-budget presents I do a stocking full of fun little things - sweets, socks, a book or cd, nice shower gel, little gadgets like keyring torches (the Dad Aisle at Tesco is good for these), silly things like balloons or cracker-type toys...

How about gift wrapping yourself and a huge bow on your head?

do you have or know someone with a digital camera? If so, buy some children friendly non-toxic paint from your local art shop and a small canvas. paint baby's feet and stamp on to the canvas. You can also paint the canvas in a background colour.

If you're a bit more adventurous - buy blue and yellow paint. Paint a sheet of A4 paper with the blue (but not solidly - just any old how but leave some white in either blocks or bristle width etc. Paint baby's feet with the yellow and stamp on the blue background. Email to snappy snaps and ask them to photoshop it 'increasing the gamma gain' and the outcome will be a wild arty picture where the background is a series of oranges (where the blue was) and black (where the white was), with purple feet. It's actually a lovely effect and then frame in a cheapo A4 glass clip frame.

or a book from baby that daddy can read to baby.

Bottle of fav wine / a couple of novelty beers / ales

A food that he likes that's a treat (salami / cheese etc

leather shoe laces

Thats what I was going to suggest! I got a 'paint your own artwork' kit from dunelm for £1.99 and printed DD'd hands and feet on it. DH said it was his fave pressie!

I also got pics taken by my sister of DD and I all dressed up and put them in a nice frame, v cheap.

ParanoidPetra · 01/11/2007 21:55

I like the sound of that. Thanks

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 01/11/2007 21:55

sorry - I naughtily assumed your partner is male and that may not be the case, so I'm sorry that I specified when that's completely irrelevant. No need to put the matter straight either way!

Thank you, I'll get shopping and painting baby's feet!!!

I think he'd be most disappointed if I wrapped myself up, it would be a huge present!!
