Took ds into city centre this morning to spend his Birthday money.

The shopping mall is all bedecked with decs, They have a crane in the middle, putting up the vast christmas tree. It's not even Halloween yet !!!

Oh, and who has started buying the mince pies, stollen slices etc, not to mention Iced Christmas cakes that are taking up shelf spaced in our Supermarkets? Come on, own up...

Personally such fare is not allowed in our house until 1st Dec at least.

I absolutely agree! I haven't even started shopping for presents yet? Unlikely to be any food stuff until mid-December in our house!

clumsymum · 26/10/2007 16:32

Sombody must buy (and eat) it, but I can't find anyone who admits to it.

The supermarkets wouldn't stock it tho' if nobody was buying.

Go on, tell us ....

My IL's start buying early

dustystar · 26/10/2007 16:36

By Xmas they have so much stuff that it takes them the next 6 months to eat it all

clumsymum · 26/10/2007 16:36

But the mince pies will taste awfully musty by then, it's even a bit soon to freeze them I'd have thought.

I try to put money away for nearer the time, but not start buying stuff like that

LOL they don't buy the mince pies yet but lots of other stuff - expecially sweets and chocs.

BroccoliSpears · 26/10/2007 17:00

I have already bought and eaten a box of sainsburys mince pies. It's me!

iwouldgoouttonight · 26/10/2007 17:05

I am refusing to acknowledge Christmas until 1st Dec this year. Last year I tried to be all organised and started shopping months in advance and still ended up doing loads right up to the last minute. So now have realised it is best to ignore it until December and the nightmare will hopefully only last a couple of weeks!

TinyGang · 26/10/2007 17:08

I can eat a mince pie any time of the year.
(I like hot cross buns too but disapprove hugely that they're sold all year round

motheroftwoboys · 27/10/2007 15:34

I always do things v. last minute and HATE decorations and carols before December. My birthday is 21 December and we never have the tree or the cards up till after that. However, even I think I have bitten off more than I can chew this year. WE are going to London to see Joseph on my birthday and staying over the weekend. Hadn't quite registered until now that this means we will not get back until the Sunday night or on Christmas Eve itself (haven't booked train yet!) so don't know how the hell I am going to get organised. Have suggested to family that we stay over in London for Christmas but they weren't having any of it.! Wonder if you can pick up your turkey from M and S or Sainsburys on Christmas Eve p.m.!

JARM · 27/10/2007 15:36

Agree its to early for decs in shopping centres etc

BUT

We have bought most of the presents already, and I have bought my christmas cards, wrapping paper and tags but thats because baby due in 4 weeks, which would leave 4 weeks to Christmas to get everything done whilst also trying to negotiate a newborn.

Shopping will be done online nearer the time - just need to remember to book my christmas delivery slot as soon as possible!

omeN666 · 27/10/2007 15:46

I willadmit to buying early..will start next week to buy some treat bits as otherwise we wont be getting any if it has to wait until last minute.

kimibobbingforapples · 27/10/2007 15:49

I have already started my christmas gift shopping

I agree it is too early for the decs to go up

DH is the one who buys and eats the mince pies in October

ChippyMinCEDtonGUE · 27/10/2007 15:50

Opened a stollen today and very tasty it is too [where's a xmas emoticon when you need one]

Gobbledispook · 27/10/2007 15:51

Been buying gifts already.

I wouldn't buy any mince pies yet but if dh sees them he will buy them - not to save, just to scoff now. He's a big kid!

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 27/10/2007 15:56

starting to panic now because GDG is buying gifts!
