Cannot remember Xmas Blush but I was never an early riser as a child .
We had presents in a pillowcase at the end of the bed so probably when my older DSis woke then I'd open my presents .

I was born in '66 so Christmases were very low key ( and my DMum never liked the bother of Christmas anyway ).

I have always made Christmas a bigger deal for my DC so the Christmas Eve Traditions , the stockings in their room, days out ,
They're adults now .....I predict a wake-up maybe 10am for them Xmas Grin

I was dreadful. Still awake when mum came home from midnight mass. Then woke regularly throughout the night - 3am, 4am, 5am. My parents told me that Santa left my presents in the kitchen because they kept trying to put them in my room but each time I was so wide awake! My dcs have always slept the while night until at least 7am!

islockdownoveryet · 24/12/2020 23:07

5am ish as a child I'd get so excited as a child I'd be awake.
I think it was my dad he was a big kid and got us all giddy .
He couldn't understand that my own dc were getting up about 8am on Christmas morning and then I'd have to wake them .

Bananaman123 · 24/12/2020 23:20

when dad came in from nightshift (or maybe he is Santa?), so about 6am, opened pressies then wasnt allowed to do a thing til dad had a few hours sleep, tv was on low and everytime i moved my mum told me to sit back down and shush, joy

AliceMcK · 24/12/2020 23:25

Dont know, 7-8 possibly. Even as I child I hated waking early, my siblings were always early risers though and usually woke me up. Depending how religious my parents were feeling would depend if we were allowed to open our presents first or if we had to wait until after church,

Frlrlrubert · 24/12/2020 23:26

I was a pretty lazy child, so wasn't an instigator of early mornings, but from being able to tell the time I was in charge of making sure my brother didn't wake our parents before 6am. He'd come to me at about 4am and I'd let him get in my bed (and hopefully go back to sleep) until at least 6. Then we'd go to my parents room and climb in bed with them, crawling up the middle from the bottom under the covers, and we'd have a few minutes sleepy cuddles before traipsing down to see if 'he'd been'.

After that we'd open presents and eat selection boxes for breakfast and my mum would put the veg on to boil grey for the next several hours 😂 good times.

Dreamymcdreamer · 24/12/2020 23:27

4-5am. I think 5am was a lie in for my parents on xmas morning. We'd all go downstairs and open all presents straight away it was brilliant!

Romemarie · 24/12/2020 23:31

I was terrible. I used to hardly sleep. I was awake from about 1am. But was so excited I didn’t go to sleep till about 11.
I remember one year i was about 8/9 I was awake nearly all night that I couldn’t keep my eyes open though Christmas dinner and fell asleep at the table, my dad had to carry me up to bed so I could nap, totally ruined my day. I learned my lesson though!

YorkshireIndie · 24/12/2020 23:31

Not very early. We were encouraged as children not to wake early because FC did not deliver until 6am and he knew if you were awake 😂😂😂
My husband finds it strange we don't get up early but I am very keen to encourage my own DC not to wake up early on Christmas Day

WildCherryBlossom · 24/12/2020 23:35

I'm expecting mine up by 6 at the latest. The earliest riser will wake the others. My mother wouldn't have had anything to do with me until at least 7, 8 or possibly later, but I'm soft. We've been up for stockings at 5am before but now they are a tiny bit older it's mutually agreed that 6 is acceptable

OppsUpsSide · 24/12/2020 23:39

Not until it was light. If you open presents from Father Christmas before it’s light they disappear 🤷🏻‍♀️

stargirl1701 · 24/12/2020 23:43

My mum used to wake at 9am.

I loved sleeping!

VaggieMight · 24/12/2020 23:45

Between 5-6am. My parents put stockings on our beds to keep us occupied until they wanted to get up. It worked. I can still remember the excitement of waking up to a heavy stocking laid and the bottom of my bed. It just had cheap stocking fillers as my mum wanted to see us open our proper presents.

frustrationcentral · 24/12/2020 23:46

Quite early - 6ish? My boys have never been early birds , in fact I'm usually found running around the house shouting "he's been!" trying to wake them up. Now they're 12 and 17 the novelty has worn off Sad, I'll still do it tomorrow though GrinXmas Grin

Nat6999 · 24/12/2020 23:48

1 minute past midnight, my mum said I was a pain in the bum on Christmas eve, I would also wake up my younger brother. She resorted to doping me with Benylin to ensure everyone had a night's sleep otherwise by mid afternoon both me & my brother were as ratty as hell & ended up arguing.

Selfcarequeereyestyle · 24/12/2020 23:53

My dd woke up at 11.10 to go to the loo and saw her full stocking she now won’t go back to sleep 🤬. She is under strict instructions not to wake her brother (who normally gets up at 4.30 am). Last year she was up from 3 ffs!!
I was as bad as a kid but didn’t wake anyone else. Going to be grumpy tomorrow!

CovidCarol · 24/12/2020 23:54

About 5am, it used to be so exciting. Happy days Xmas Smile

bluedomino · 25/12/2020 00:12

We were woken about 5am to open our presents with our father, then I'd help him milk and he'd go off to work. Back to bed for a few hours and then my cousins would call in to play with our presents as they weren't allowed to open anything until after lunch (how cruel!). Mine will be up around 7am and opening theirs when their father finishes his night shift. I think family who have parents working on Christmas day have a more relaxed attitude and generally go with the flow.

AlexaPlayWhiteNoise · 25/12/2020 01:47

Crack of sparrow fart Grin when I was about 7 I was given a travel alarm clock and told not to disturb my parents till 7am... so I threw cuddly toys at my baby sister till she woke up. So then it was legitimate and ok to be awake Grin My poor Mum didn't used to go to sleep on Christmas.

notangelinajolie · 25/12/2020 01:52

Never an early riser. Mum had to wake us.
Same for our children - I will have time to set the table, peel the veg and cook the turkey before any of our (now adult) DC's get up. It's always been that way - even when they were little.
There is something lovely about having the quietness of Christmas Day morning all to your self.

ParkheadParadise · 25/12/2020 01:57

My mum had 6 of us. I was the youngest I always wanted to go to sleep in case Santa came and didn't leave anything if we were still awake. I shared a room with 2 of my sisters who would carry on all night.
We would all get up about 5am before my parents and run about wild opening presents and eating our selection boxes😂😂

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 25/12/2020 02:05

I remember getting up at 2.25am one year but would say usually 3-4, but got told to go back to bed so normally around 5-6am.

Juanbablo · 25/12/2020 02:46

Early! And all through the night!! I remember one Christmas my grandma was staying so my brother slept in my room. We were up all night! He always slept long and deep so it was probably terrible for him. But I barely slept as a child and still don't as an adult. I hate it now, I wish I could sleep. My dcs will be up early but ds1 is in charge of not letting anyone wake us until 6:30. He's the loudest so hoping giving him the job will keep him quiet!

UndertheCedartree · 25/12/2020 02:52

I think about 7! My 2 aren't early risers luckily and so they're not allowed to wake me til 8am!

wurlycurly · 25/12/2020 02:57

Maybe between 5 and 6... And I was amazed that i was able to sleep at all... The excitement was off the charts. My own children are not the same... The Christmas buzz is diminished
