Food wise?

I'm hosting for the first time - I've cooked roasts but not a Christmas dinner, anything I can do today in between watching Christmas films with the kids ?!

Lots

Peel all the veg, put the potatoes in water with a glug of milk to keep them white.

Make the stuffing and even stuff the turkey breast.

Make YO batter, it's better made ahead.

Set the table (unless you are using it today).

Stash some booze somewhere for in case you need to get away for a half hour.

Good luck.

Peel and cut veg, set table if not needed until then, wash glasses. I'm making my red cabbage and pigs in blankets today along with monkey bread for breakfast tomorrow.

Par boil your spuds. Roast potatoes come up crispier if cold spud meets hit fat.

Open your joint today ( before your shop shuts ) to prepare it . If there is something wrong with it you will have time for adjustments to your dinner .

I've par boiled mine, fluffed them up and let them go completely cold, put on a baking tray in the fridge. Will go from fridge into hot fat tomorrow.

Actually my tip is to do par boiling and roasting of potatoes/parsnips/carrots all at same time. If the carrots and parsnips are left chunky you can do it all together and keeps things simpler.
