How to put the presents out without getting 'caught'?

DS is 6, first year of being a single parent and have anxiety about getting the gifts from the loft, shed and car without him waking up and hearing..everything is wrapped in bin liners (from last years experience, they sound so loud taking everything out from them when the house is silent). He has so many gifts, it wouldn't be so bad if he had a few but he has loads (only stocking and big gift come from Santa, as per family tradition 🤔.. Regretting that now).

Santa only brings one big gift and a stocking, the rest are from me so they go under the tree during the day. Or this is what I did when they still believed. It’s much easier now they are older as I don’t have to creep around and stockings go downstairs. We already have most of the presents under the tree apart from their main present.

I'm the same ! Single mum to ds aged 6. In previous years dp was here. Last year my mum helped by keeping watch ....but not allowed this year
Dm is taking him to the park in a bit ...so I can get presents down from the loft into the shed, then tonight I will bring them from the shed to the living room . It's a stealth operation as DS is a really light sleeper. I might have to put a chair up against the living room door until I have finished arghhh

We’ve always done stockings on the outside of bedroom doors and everything else downstairs. I couldn’t be doing with the stress of trying to get presents into bedrooms.

What time are you all starting tonight? Both DC are in bed now, the last one went up at 7.30.

We have one toy to make up which I'm itching to start on but will hold off for a while. I'm awake since 4.30 this morning so I'll be getting everything out and going to bed asap.

I don’t understand Confused
The stocking is empty at the end of the bed. When they are asleep you remove it, fill it, return it.
Santa present is built or put together and downstairs with the rest of the presents under the tree. The family presents are already under the tree? No sneaking required?

I do it around midnight/1am, hopefully in bed by 1:30. But my dc are not early risers and they have never woken me up on Christmas Day, I always wake them up!

I have two sets of identical sacks. Empty one goes on bed. Full one is hidden away, will do a switcheroo late on.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 24/12/2020 20:12

My son is such a light sleeper. I've told him santa brings the sacks already full this year to avoid handling things too much due to covid regulations and he bought it lol
I'll be bringing the presents in from the shed between 9 and 10

IsolaPribby · 24/12/2020 20:16

Santa only brings the sack in our house, and DD always prefers it to be in our bedroom rather than hers! That's fine by me, much easier. May be the last year though, as she is 10!

No believers left here. It is such a relief! Still want stockings but I don't need to worry about getting caught! It's a bit like you dread your oldest going to secondary school, only to discover you actually prefer it!
