Help - In law Advice

So I need help (my medicinal needs are covered, that’s if my FiL doesn’t polish off the gun first!!) with how to handle the dreaded in laws. They are here until Sunday and despite only arriving today I can feel my blood boiling!! I am currently putting my four young children to bed whilst the in laws and hubby are sitting downstairs drinking and eating. This is how it will be for the next 4 days 😩!! My FiL is one of the most offensive people on earth and I’ve already had to remind him that he is not in his own house now and MiL is a crashing bore. Neither have bothered with the kids and quite frankly my kids can’t be bothered with them!! How do I survive an already stressful Christmas with the two angels of doom downstairs!! I’d get rotten drink but I have kids to keep alive 😩🤦‍♀️🎅🏻. Anyone any tips that doesn’t include a jail sentence or absconding from the country?

I meant gin not gun 🤦‍♀️

I'd still go with the drink idea and make DH keep then alive instead.

Orangedaisy · 23/12/2020 20:34

I was going to say report yourselves to the police as you’re going against covid rules but you asked for no jail sentence......

Anoisagusaris · 23/12/2020 20:34

Why isn’t your husband helping with bedtime? You can’t ‘entertain’ visitors 24/7 when they are staying that long.

Nymeriastark1 · 23/12/2020 20:35

You tell your husband to get of his ass and help you.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 23/12/2020 20:36

Maybe a gun is more appropriate? Is there a TV upstairs? I would slyly gather snacks and say you have been roped into watching a film with the dc..

Hubby needs to help...tell in laws they know where the fridge and kettle are...pass mother in law the peeler tomorrow and tell father in law he's responsible for the washing up...it's not a bloody hotel

Screwcorona · 23/12/2020 20:38

Um not allowing drinking all day for 4 days. I wouldnt invite them after this happened once. Airbnb exists

lilylongjohn · 23/12/2020 20:46

Can't you tell them that putting the kids to bed takes 5 hrs, grab yourself a drink, the iPad and watch 'say yes to the dress' in bed for the rest of the evening

Pumba3 · 23/12/2020 20:49

Orangedaisy if I could rely on it being a jail term for them I would be all over that suggestion!! Although, a cell on my own with food provided is sounding more appealing by the minute!! X

@Pumba3 brilliant!! I found Tesco car park in a queue my happy place this summer. What a year......

TeenageMutantNinjaCovid · 23/12/2020 20:52

Which country are you in?

Lovely walks in the sunshine, sunbathing or on the other side scrunching through the snow?

OverTheRainbow88 · 23/12/2020 20:52

I went to pick up a prescription yesterday evening on my own, and kept letting people push in front of me to avoid going home... was a lovely break, even standing outside in the rain

Pumba3 · 23/12/2020 20:54

In in NI it’s the only time I truly wish they had banned flights into the country!! Tesco car park here I come!!

Is it impolite to put a guest on rations?!

It's a bloody good way to get rid of the infestation of unwanted pests. . .
