I usually buy a small Christmas cake from the bakery near me...only DD and DH like it and I haven't this year! I might get one tomorrow if there are any but to be honest, I've spent so much time and money now I might just say NO CAKE.

We have tonnes of everything else...the cake is always just there as a side attraction.

I always get a hidden orange Christmas pudding from Waitrose which I always say is my treat but due to circumstance, can’t this year...

I did put a fairly posh one from Sainsbos in my trolley but I don’t think it’s going to be the same!

Likewise Morbier cheese, also from Waitrose won’t be on my cheeseboard this year!! *sob

Sprouts! I'm in charge of cooking so won't be buying them, let alone cooking them, putting up with the smell and watching other people eating them.

Pascha · 23/12/2020 09:17

Stuffing balls. They asked for them but were having beef so I forgot to include it in the shopping order. The plates will be full to bursting anyway so I'm sure I shall be forgiven.

mildlymiffed · 23/12/2020 09:27

Brandy butter! It's run out near me- so that made that decision easy!

CoronaIsWatching · 23/12/2020 09:29

Sprouts, cranberry sauce, bread sauce

ExpensivelyDecorated · 23/12/2020 09:31

Chocolate coins, I forgot and am not going back to the shops specially, there probably aren't any left now.

Mummydaydreams · 23/12/2020 09:31

No Christmas crackers here, I don't like the noise and they always have rubbish jokes and toys inside so I have saved £10 this year!

FortunesFave · 23/12/2020 09:36

Mummy I love them but they're so wasteful. I keep meaning to make some.

No turkey here this year, none of us really like it but used to just have it. So it's lamb here this year xx

fairydustandpixies · 23/12/2020 09:39

Yep, seeing my family.

MasterMargarita · 23/12/2020 09:40

Any kind of traditional Christmas dinner Grinwe're getting a curry from a brilliant Indian around the corner. No prepping, no cooking, no mounts of washing up, just the whole day to do nothing!

Scanner20 · 23/12/2020 09:50

No Yule log, no baileys cream for mince pies and no Stilton as I'm the only one who will eat it and I won't want all of it. Plenty of other options though :)

Onedropbeat · 23/12/2020 09:50

No pigs in blanket
No Christmas pud
No Christmas cake

Doesn’t seem worthwhile for just 2 of us

Mindymomo · 23/12/2020 09:51

I was speaking to my 62 year old brother and I said “well we will just have to do without, if we haven’t got it by now” and he said that’s what our dear Mum would say every Christmas.

minipie · 23/12/2020 10:00

No Christmas cake or Christmas pud

Only DH likes them and he likes plenty of other cakes and puddings so we are doing ones we all like (carrot cake, chocolate mousse, pavlova). We do have mince pies and brandy cream though.

No sausage rolls - I’ve got all the ingredients in the freezer but we just have so much food, so I’m going to do them for New Year instead.

No bird of any sort! PILs were bringing it and can’t come now, so we’re having some lamb racks that were intended for boxing day dinner instead. Also no sprouts, same reason.

BlueChampagne · 23/12/2020 10:24

Crackers - we can wear our own silly hats and tell jokes and shout 'bang'
Brandy butter - still got time to make some but possibly CBA
Yule log - never bother
Pigs in blankets, sausage rolls - ditto
Christmas eve boxes - WTF!

vinoandbrie · 23/12/2020 17:30

Christmas crackers!
