So obviously we have varying degrees of limitations on what we can do on Xmas eve/over Xmas. I just want to hear what you have planned, any traditions that you are able to stick to, what you are having for dinner etc!

I'll start....the kids will open their Xmas eve boxes and we'll probably have a couple of mulled wines over zoom with friends, maybe a Xmas family movie. Haven't decided about dinner yet, hoping to steal some ideas!

collect baby turkey from the farm and have a walk - kedgeree for dinner and perhaps a game of scrabble. It's real rock-n-roll lifestyle here

Worriedandabitscared · 22/12/2020 19:38

Take away and Christmas films in pjs! So excited haha

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 22/12/2020 21:01

Give the house a blitz tag teaming with DH for toddler distraction, go for a walk to the beach, make some Christmas Tiffin while DS naps (soak the raisins in amaretto...), light the fire, let DS open his Christmas Eve box, watch a Christmas film, DS bathtime with snowman bathbomb, bed with new PJs, night before Christmas, then adult evening wine/port M&S brie en croute, charcuterie, olives etc and watch something on TV maybe the new grand tour. We were meant to be going to visit father Christmas then going out for lunch, as it's the first time DH and I have both been off work Christmas Eve for years, but clearly that won't be happening now

Christmashottubintheshed · 22/12/2020 21:12

Working from home in the morning and dh has to go to work to finish some bits too but will prob do a long dog walk / me and dh run while the dc ride their bikes in the pm to tire everybody out (fat chance!), head home for something nice for dinner and stick a film on I expect. Tier 4 so not a lot going on! Smile

JorisBonson · 22/12/2020 21:26

Usually a bit of a night out and a curry with B&SIL - thanks tier 4!

Just me and DH for the foreseeable so we'll get a curry delivered, fizz and beer and music.

Planning a relaxing morning then after lunch will drop some presents off at my mums and in-laws then come home and will probably watch a film.Dd is making a buffet tea then my neighbour has organized carol singing in our street followed by drinks and mince pies on our drives. Then myself and Dh are going to prepare the vegetables for Christmas Day and then watch tv and have a few drinks.Christmas Eve is normally really hectic for us as Dd would normally be doing panto (which she is really missing doing) but it will be nice to have a relaxing family day

Hohomerryxmas · 22/12/2020 21:33

Long walk with the dog in the morning to make sure he's comatose the rest of the day and isn't under my feet (he's a shih tzu and will sleep for hours after a good walk)🤣 cook the turkey and ham and all the veggies apart from the roast potatoes and gravy, they're made fresh on the day. Have a quick clean of the house before DC are back from their DFs. We'll watch some movies, bake cookies for Santa do some colouring. I was planning on making salmon mousse and a fruit and chocolate platter for the evening meal and have my DM and her DH over but that plan has been scrapped as the DC aren't a massive fan of salmon mousse so we've reverted back to the original plan of Chinese take out. We'll eat at 5pm. We'll take the dog for another walk at around 7pm and walk around town to see all the pretty lights before going home. DP will be home from work around this time too so we'll open our christmas eve boxes and watch polar express with hot Chocolte and some homemade cakes. Read twas the night before Xmas to DC and Aim to get them tucked in bed by 10.30 so hopefully they'll be asleep by midnight at the latest 🤞me and DP will have a glass of wine while we wait for midnight and wish eachother a merry Christmas.

Tier 4 here. Lazy start to the day. Normal breakfast, post cards through neighbours doors then a long dog walk through woods and farmland to pick up warm sausage rolls, pastries and mince pies for lunch. I'll have a long shower or bath and then watch home alone and Christmas Chronicles with the kids. Dinner will be steak. Crack open the baileys and quality street whilst watching Die hard. Kids are older now so help with presents under the tree. To be fair this is quite similar to a normal CE for is although we might have gone to the pub for steak.

dontmesswiththeGC · 22/12/2020 21:37

DH and I were saying whilst watching all the Christmas food ads that we never buy or eat the party food. It's just not something either of our families have ever eaten at Christmas. So we've decided to buy a range of party food from various supermarkets and stuff ourselves with tempura prawns and mini beef wellingtons on Christmas Eve. Can't wait!

BiddyPop · 22/12/2020 21:38

We will do prep for Christmas day as always, ans as forecast is dry but cold, I plan to light the wood burner in the garden in the evening and just wear my ski jacket and throw of pot of mulled wine out there to enjoy. Dh is half way to being on board with that plan.....

mrsbyers · 22/12/2020 21:43

Going to stay with my parents , dropping off a couple of gifts en route socially distanced then sharing a lovely seafood platter with them

maddiemookins16mum · 22/12/2020 21:48

I’m working until 1pm.
Will put my Gammon in the slow cooker before I leave at 8am.
DH and MIL will have the house spotless between them on my return (result)and MIL will get the dining room ready for Christmas Day, she does it beautifully.
We’re planning a ‘picky tea’ and The Christmas Chronicles 2 in the evening.

barfotoliv · 22/12/2020 21:49

I have to lift the seafood order from our local fishmonger at about 8am, or maybe even a bit before it. Then (having hopefully missed the worst of the crowds!) it will be home to do some last-minute cleaning. In the afternoon, I'll potter about the kitchen prepping and making the ham, putting on mulled wine etc. DH and DC will be making a gingerbread house. Then in the evening, a seafood and champagne dinner. DC will bath, followed by their Christmas Eve boxes and a Christmas film before bed. I absolutely can't wait!

africanantelope · 22/12/2020 22:35

Note from the elves saying goodbye, lush bath bombs left behind with new pjs for the kids, prepping veg in front of films, lots of chocolate and fish and chips from our lovely local chippy at the top of the road. Grew up in London and could never find a decent fish and chip place but now I live in a lovely little village and it's delish 😋

Are plan for the day is after breakfast, have a tidy up, then take the kids for a walk, come back and the toddler will have a sleep.
Then do baking with DSD who's 9, toddler will then wake, lunch then play at home.
Then at 4pm on zoom for the Church Nativity service, they each have a wooden character to decorate whilst the service is on and they can see there friends on the zoom call.
Buffet tea, then new pajamas after a bath, Christmas flim and toddler to bed, then make a toy garage, get the older one to bed then lay the presents out.
