We play a charadey sort of game - I have no idea if it has a proper name!
Split into two teams. Each person writes down 3 names (on separate pieces of paper). These can be famous people, famous characters - you can set the rules.
All the pieces of paper are put into a hat. The teams then take it in turns to draw names out of the hat, and then give clues to the people. Each team has a set amount of time - I think we used a 90 second timer but you can vary.
The game is done in three rounds, each with the same set of names.
Round 1 - you can say anything to give clues to the people, except their names. For example if the name was "David Tennant" you could say "played the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who"
Teams take it in turns until all names have been guessed. Each time, it has to be a new member of the team, until all have been guessed, going back to the start if necessary.
Round 2 - you have to use a single word for your clue (not part of their name). So this time it could be "Doctor".
Again teams take it in turns until all have been guessed, moving through the team members in order.
Round 3 - this time you have to do charades to give clues to the name.
After 3 rounds, the team with the most correct answers wins.
Each time, the person giving the clues can pass on one which is put back into the hat.
The idea is that as you know who the people are after round 1, they should be easier to guess in rounds 2 and 3. This doesn't always prove true!
We've also varied this and done clues to films/books/tv.
If it has a proper name, can someone let me know, then maybe we can look up the proper rules!
If there are lots of you you might do only 2 names each - it's very flexible :-)
