what's wrong with, you know, a pillowcase?

oliveoil · 23/10/2007 20:40

oh boo hiss

I have small fiddly things atm from M&S and they fit feck all in

my philosophy is that they will be heirlooms and last forever...

I've been thinking of buying DD something like this for her first christmas.
She's gong to get loads of bits from other people and she could then use this for all her other christmases.

pmsl harman...although will be checking out dunelm mill..DS loved his stocking and one of my fondest memories is having an old army sock for a stocking..loved it

MoosMa · 23/10/2007 20:48

We always had my mum's old maternity tights - really stretchy and smelled wonderfully of mothballs

CappuScreamO · 23/10/2007 20:49

oh olive what is the true meaning of christmas?

a pillowcase decorated with lakeland santa-icity?

or a precious family celebration?

DottydotsofBloodOnTheFloor · 23/10/2007 20:56

Pillowcases are the tradition in both our families - dp and I both had them as kids (must be a Northern thing!) and ds's get them. I love it. Although ds's have broken with tradition and insist the pillowcases go at the bottom of our bed...

aren't pillowcases for trick or treating? haha

our dds have a stocking that santa fills up, and a few other presents that don't fit in beside the sock, all other presents are under the tree

but if you are so inclined to stuff things in sacks, it is a very LOVELY one!

milkyJammy · 26/10/2007 09:16

We had pillowcases as kids (until I was 18 I think!). Presents from Father Christmas went in the pillowcase (small stuff) and presents from family under the tree. Originally (before I was born) pillowcases went in bedrooms, but my big sister didn't like the idea of an old man coming into her room at night, so we would leave empty piloow cases hung over the back of the sofa on Christmas Eve and in the morning they'd be magically full.

wheresthevalium · 26/10/2007 09:21

OMG they are so cute, hmm can I justify the £30 I would have to spend...

FlightAttendant · 26/10/2007 09:22

Cali! We had my Dad's skiing socks!!!

I am thinking of using them for Ds1&2 but will have to ask my sis who has no children, if she would mind.

There is nothing in the world like feeling your way to the bottom of a very wooly, very long sock for that last present!
