Presents for middle aged siblings.

Any advice on this please? We each have two siblings, all in their 50s/early 60s and married with, like us, young adult children. This year we are only giving them consumables (mostly booze) or maybe books, as they all have enough "stuff" already. Are we copping out?

I think consumables are perfect. They are nice treats, sometimes opening your eyes to a wine /food you didn't know.

Consumables and a book would be my ideal present Xmas Smile

Do you know their tastes in these things?

I'd be completely thrilled with a case of the right sort of wine or a few bottles of Islay single malt. It would be a bit frustrating to receive bog standard plonk or random blended whisky.

Have you thought for next year asking them what they all think of making a charitable donation to their own charity of choice instead of swapping gifts?

Just an idea.

But yes a really "nice" bottle of something they like etc

It's OK to ask, what sort of whiskey or wine do you like, same with food. You don't waste money and they get what they like, win, win.

I am a middle aged sibling and would be very happy with consumables and books! I don't tend to treat myself often so these would be treats for me.

We have agreed no gifts with siblings: it's lovely. Consumables or books is a good idea though.

I got my db James tickets and a bottle of rum.

I got my sister's a hamper this year. One had a book on Currys with ingredients (they live very rural so can't get interesting ingredients) and one had some treats towards Christmas. They seem to like them when I've done it in the past.

I’m a middle aged sibling and really enjoyed my afternoon tea voucher from last year (used it in August).
