Number of presents vs money spent

I've read comments on threads before about ensuring the dc have the same number or the same amount of money spent on them. Today I had a daft worry that dd2 has got one less present than dd1 but the extra one dd1 has got is the second big present. It's not big, it cost less than £20 but still. I had one of those argh moments. It got me wondering, what do people focus on more in terms of treating the dc as equally as possible: money or number of gifts? I try to make both money and number fairly equal. Dc are 5, 12, and 13 and thankfully don't want tech things.

My 2 are 13 and 8. I get them roughly the same number of presents but not exactly. The 8yo has more presents but her things are cheaper. I spend more on the 13yo and I will spend more on the 8yo when she is older. So in answer to your question I neither worry about spending the same amount on them or giving them the same number of presents

Well, my mum has the most this year I think! She's staying with us (bubbled as both single ) and she brought all her presents down with her that had been sent in the post to her. I've never seen so many presents under the tree! She's one lucky grandmother this yearSmile She deserves it though, she's a fantastic mum and grandmother and my greatest support.
Tomorrow morning I have us going to be splendid chaos!
Happy Christmas everyone! 🎄

Our dc have a 6 yr age gap , they are now both 20+ and we’ve never price matched , when they were younger we did try to have similar amounts . Neither of them has ever queried what the other has got .

When my boys were little they would get the same amount of gifts. It was probably similar in cost, but not always. When they got older and understood there was no Santa we told them we would spend the same amount on each of them. They could choose "Quantity" or "Quality". My oldest wanted Quality and my younger wanted Quantity. So older would get a few more expensive things, and younger got a lot more gifts, but they equaled the same cost as older sons.

It used to be both. I'd try and stick to the same budget for each, and ensure they had the same amount to open. However, this year I went off plan, and although I think they still had similar amounts, I spent far more on my 11yr old than the others. On of them then gave the other one of his presents because it was the wrong colour!

Firm number of gifts here. I like to give gifts out alternatively so would become really obvious if one child had more. Also I have 6 year gap 4 & almost 10, so 4 yos stuff is cheaper than the 10yos, they both got scooters 4 yos was half the price of the 10yos.
