Booking a courier for personal delivery

Sorry if this has already been covered. We were hoping to drive some presents to a relative who will be alone at Christmas but it looks like that might not be possible now, so I am wondering about booking a courier to deliver them. I haven’t been able to go ahead and try and do this as I don’t yet have a box/measurements etc...does anyone know whether I am likely to be able to get one at this point? I might be able to get a box tomorrow and book then or certainly by Monday. It’s within the UK.

Ps I mean get a courier, not get a box, although I guess right now anything might be difficult!

Yes I'm sure you will be able to, my Hermes is easy to do but I'd hurry up otherwise it won't get their for Christmas. Package really well if you want it to arrive in one piece 😊

I sent a large box of gifts to my friend last week- used parcel to go. You enter the dimensions/ weight of the parcel & then it compares all the different companies eg collect+, Hermes etc
It was very easy- I printed the labels at home & then dropped it off at my local shop. Paid just over a tenner for a very large box, which included couple of quid for insurance. Arrived safely within a couple of days

If you check on there it should give an idea of last posting dates for the different couriers

Sorry- realised I missed the point of your question with my first reply!! 🤦‍♀️

Do not use Hermes they are notoriously rubbish!

That’s helpful Lost thank you, I will check out parcel to go.

Re Hermes, I know they mess up sometimes, but can’t really think of a courier with a good reputation! I did check out their site though and it said no liquids including gel, paste etc...that would be a bit of an issue since a few of the gifts are toiletries. I expect the others might be the same though.

I used the new Royal Mail collect for two big parcels last week. Worked well.

Thank you everyone, I ended up using parcel to go and I could see I would have to use Hermes as we don’t have a printer...it was annoying because cheaper options with home collection included were available but because of not having a printer choices were limited to places we can print in store tomorrow. Note to self, buy some kind of compact printer!
