I hardly see her any more due to travel restrictions and have previously bought port, sherry, turtle doves arm warmers, costume jewellery last year got her GH subscription with the free gift. What can i do this year? She's not in great health but very beautifully groomed and well dressed and not short of money so my £20 budget doesn;t get much!

Does she do puzzles e.g. crosswords etc? My MiL is a similar age and I usually get her a couple of nice puzzle books and biscuits. Obviously no good if she isn't into that though!

I'm not sure if she does- will ask my mum#

How about a new hairbrush if you can find out what she uses.

Or Edinburgh gin liqueur, the rhubarb & ginger one.

A coffee table book.

You can get some lovely scarves on Etsy, I like Antonia York Designs for my elderly mum

Find out what her favourite face cream is? Lovely hand cream? Does she read?

Warm blankets or aroma candles are always a thing, just make sure she isn't allergic to some scents. Generally home goods make a good gift. My grandparents are getting a diy calendar with family photos from me this year (here is a tutorial on how to make your own, if necessary), so you can either do one, too, or check out Shutterfly or local print stores.

Flowers or a nice plant.

Oly4 · 15/12/2020 08:22

Lovely shower gel. Magazine subscription is a great idea.. did she enjoy it?

PerveenMistry · 15/12/2020 08:25

Photo of you in a nice frame?

High end hand lotion?

Plant or flowers?

Decent champagne?

Buy something that's consumable, or that you KNOW they want. I've spent a year throwing out lovely Christmas presents that the recipient must have put a face on for receiving but then put away in a cupboard, never to be seen again until their executor had to dispose of it.

Shrub/rose bush if she has a garden
