For DD 10 & DS 12.
Got them pringles & haribo & chocolates & candy canes but the main thing they enjoy is little toys. Not too 'crappy/plastic tat/party giftbag' though.
Last year I outdid myself and they still play with their swanee wooden whistles and magnetic fuzzy faces.
In the past I've also given whopee cushions (split quickly), chocolate-pooping reindeer and wind-up racing elves (m-eh) and mini jigsaws puzzles in thest tubes (which I enjoyed more than them Xmas Wink ).
Ideas v welcome please!

Shut the box
Tower of Hanoi
Sliding puzzles

Look at Mader spinning tops. They are beautiful and they do different levels of difficulty so some would be a real challenge for them. I bought a set of 5 different ones and I can only do 3 of them. You can get them from Babi Pur and Yes Bebe.

Kaleidoscopes?
I got mine some from Rex London last year and they were a hit

I’ve just wrapped mine so can’t send a photos but home bargains do little matchbox puzzles in old fashioned boxes all different ones that mine like. We got a old fashioned box of tiddlywinks wine and a gyroscope as well.

Magic flannels always go down well even with my older ones.

I second yo-yos and spinning tops.
Not old fashioned but retro...tamagotchi?
I loved getting stickers in mine
Cards (I have Disney themed ones and have seen Harry Potter and other cool themes).
Skipping rope with a counter (I use one at 36 Blush)
Mini cross stitch kit (bookmark etc)
Dominoes can be quite fun
A finger piano
Harmonica
One of those pens that write in lots of different colours
A few blocks of dye and a rolled up T-shirt or clothing item to tie dye.
A small artists mannequin
Retro macrame items or kit
A torch was often my favourite Christmas stocking present for reading under the covers or morse code messages - as was an invisible ink pen for writing secret messages.
Probably too old for your children but if anyone else is looking for ideas, a glove puppet or set of finger puppets and some play-dough and cutters.

Diabolo - too big?
Hula hoop - you can get ones that click together from eight pieces although not sure whether that would be stocking sized even then
3D pin art thing
Mini etch-a-sketch
Game of jacks

A matchbox mouse is very traditional I think :)

And yes this year I got my traditional stocking fillers from Rex London - got themed projector torches, spinning top sets, very cute play tickets (like for a pretend theatre), an adorable tin music box for DS age 3 and some beautiful wooden fairytale story dice for DD age 5.

Spud guns. My dd (18) bought them for her friends this Christmas.

ritzbiscuits · 15/12/2020 11:10

Are you near a Home Bargains? They have a whole range of old fashioned stocking filler type toys. Shut the Box is £2.99 in there and lots of fun.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 15/12/2020 11:45

Thanks all! I want an old fashioned stocking myself now ...
