Baby Born/ Annabelle. Help?

My dd is coming up to three and has just got into dolls. The baby type ones rather than the barbie kind.

All her Christmas presents are quite samey so I’ve been looking for something a bit different and thought a more singing and dancing type of doll than the slightly beaten up ones she currently has would be nice.

The prices! I was not expecting £45/£55 for a Baby Annabelle or Baby Born! Are these the best and should I suck it up and pay it or are there any better/cheaper ones out there?

I rate Baby Annabelle definitely but 3 might be a bit young for the proper one. My 3 year old is happy with the my first Annabelle ane also has the my first Alexander. They are a smaller size which is better for play. Eyes open and close. Hard face and limbs but soft body. We also have the full size Annabelle and she's just a little on the heavy and large side at the moment so don't think it's worth paying the higher price until a bit older. Hope that might help. Also when on offer you can usually get the full price one for £39 ish so a bit cheaper but yes still quite expensive for a doll!

I have a doll obsessed 7 year old so I'm well versed. We've got/had Baby Annabel, Baby Born X2, Baby Alive's, Reubens Barn, Tiny Treasures, Luvabella real as can be, Baby Wow.

I would say at not yet 3, Baby Annabel and Baby Born will probably be a bit too big for your DD to handle easily unless she is very big. Mine really struggled with Baby Annabel on her third birthday.

The most played with by my dd by miles, is Baby Born, even though it is the least interactive. Apparently this is common and it's because she is more open ended doll, interactive ones are more gimmicky. Her hard body also means she can go in the bath/swimming pool/paddling pool/beach. And even though it's very messy, they can be spoon fed. My dd loves to colour water and feed her Baby Borns, she's had hours and hours of fun doing this with felt tip pens on scraps of kitchen roll and adding it to water.

There is a new Baby Born little sister which seems to be Baby Born just in smaller scale. We don't have it but because of the size issues we had at first I would recommend that one. I've seen it in Wilko and on Amazon, not sure where else might stock it.

Just had a look around, the doll was called Baby Born Little Girl, I could only find it on Wilko as out of stock/discontinued (which is weird as I first heard of it this summer) and on eBay for £50. But then I found Baby Born My First Girl on Very on sale which is the same but different packaging. Miniland doll? We have a 32cm doll for our 2 year old and it's a manageable size

Purchased this and a few accessories for my just 3 y/o. Seems to be sturdy enough to be thrown around but soft enough to be cuddled. I didn't want one of the plastic ones - am not normally fussy but they just don't appeal, so went for this.

Thank you everyone, particularly for pointing out they are quite big dolls! I wouldn’t have considered that.

Dd is quite small and has ASD so her understanding isn’t where it should be in regards to feeding a doll. I’m already horrified by the mess she could make with that Shock.

I had a look at the my first baby Annabelle/Alexander. I hadn’t seen them but they look much better for her and my local Argos actually has them in stock. First time that’s happened this year!

I've got my DD2 this baby Annabelle for Christmas. It's smaller than the original Annabelle but you can get clothes that fit and she still has some interactive things.
