So, how do you explain how come Father Christmas has only brought ONE (b. expensive) pressie, whereas before it's been lots of little pressies?

Managed to lay my hands on a Wii, and the other bits we need (extra remote, nunchuck etc), so it's a VERY expensive Christmas present.

In past years ds has had a main present from us (as in WE asked FC to bring it), and lots of little bits (annuals, story CDs, Hawkins Bazaar bitties), all wrapped in little parcels.

But DS is 8, still believes (I hope). Best way please to explain that the Wii is it, but FC still loves him.

Oh, and he WILL be hugely excited once he opens the wii, but last year he spent ages before opening counting presents and deciding what to open first.

in our house the main present is from us and only the stocking is from FC
this is because dh was worried dcs would wonder why we hadn't got them anything!!

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 22/10/2007 19:36

DD believes too cod.

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 22/10/2007 19:36

(And she's 9 in Dec meant to add)

crunchie · 22/10/2007 19:48

Tell him FC doesn't exist. He probably knows that but is pretending for you

boolepew · 22/10/2007 20:05

We've always said that we have to give FC some money for the presents, dd has remarked on things like' 'oh santa shops at the ELC too', yet she still thinks elves make the toys as well . She's 9.
How much did you pay for Wii? (I'm v. nosey)We got Wii, Wii sports and 5 other games, accessory pack, 2x£5 vouchers and a card for 10% of new games for £249.99. Saved £117.

I pretended I believed in FC for years, I didn't want to spoil things for my parents.

tryingtocookacurry · 22/10/2007 20:12

We are having exactly the same problem. I have bought ds(11) a wii and am worried cos he has a little sister (2) who although a lot less will be spent on her, she will have loads more to open.
Am thinking of filling a stocking for him with things like annuals, toptrumps, marbles etc. He will be chuffed with these also.

Skyler · 22/10/2007 20:15

Oh gosh yes kids WANT to believe! I think we over analyse things.

hmm, got me thinking. I guess we al follow the traditions our parents did for us.

My mum always did a little stocking, from fc, and a big sackload of stuff from him too.

I certainly can't keep up with that 'inbred tradition' being a single mum now.

I have told dd that fc won't be bringing so much this year, and she actually siad, yes mummy there were too many presents last year lol. She's 5 btw.

Ok this year I am cutting dwon, and deffo, mummy is gonna get more credit and give her a couple of fc's gifts, from mummy. DD always remembers who gave her what.

I now 'own' xmas. bring it on.

Skribble · 22/10/2007 23:54

In our house santa brings all the little nick knacks that actually fit in a stocking.

Things like note books,
puzzles,
stickers,
books,
small lego set,
chocolate orange,
chocolate coins,
fancy pens,
quiz book
etc.

Main pressy from us me.
