Same problem every year - gifts for team at work

And I’m leaving. So it’s a goodbye/ thank you as well. I really like them (well, some of them!) and genuinely want to say goodbye, thank you, happy Christmas with the gifts, but just can’t think what to get.
They are all drinkers except one, but booze seems a bit of a rubbish present for them as they all just buy whatever I can afford to give in their weekly shop anyway.
I’ve worked with them for years and give two gifts usually - summer (school) and Christmas. So I’ve run out of ideas even more than ever. And have left it way to late to order personalised/ own design stuff as time crept up on me.
Any ideas please?
There are 10 of them - 7 women, 3 men.

I'm in the same boat and actually came on here looking for a thread I started - I'm not leaving but have 3 men and a woman I want to send a token too but can't find anything that isn't £££ and they are dispersed around the country so would need to be posted!

LifeOfBriony · 09/12/2020 18:49

I'm also wondering what to get for my team (5 women, one man). We're all wfh at present so it will have to be posted which will add to the cost. When we were working in the office we (a colleague with a similar team) would buy biscuits or chocolates from M&S - just a token but appreciated (I hope). I know my manager is doing something for colleague and me so I would feel very mean doing nothing. Help!

A Lynx gift set for the men and the same item of jewellery for the women from Boots

Frannibananni · 09/12/2020 19:49

Lynx is a shit present. No one past the age of 14 uses it. Awful stuff.

rookiemere · 09/12/2020 19:51

You're overthinking this, just give them the wine. People can always use a nice bottle of wine and it's the gesture rather than the gift itself that matters.

livingthegoodlife · 09/12/2020 19:54

Nothing wrong with booze!

What about a succulent? Trendy, lots of online delivery companies, good for working from home?

Wine or a poinsettia. It's a token gesture.

bobbikato · 09/12/2020 20:20

Another shit present idea is novelty socks - i got my team some Mr Men socks etc I think there is a gap in the market for socks with office stuff on them i.e. " My Other Job is ...
or Greek Philosphers quotes "etc all the socks on sale just seem to be disney, football .

parrotonmyshoulder · 09/12/2020 20:28

Thanks.
You’re all right, I’ll probably just give the wine. It’s not really a problem (and I’m leaving!) Tricky for the one non-drinker.

Its like giving women a box of Tampax
Chocolatechocolatechocolate · 09/12/2020 21:09

I always give prosecco with chocolates to each of my team at Christmas. I know it’s boring but everyone seem to appreciate it

rookiemere · 09/12/2020 21:18

I'm always impressed by any manager prepared to buy us something from their own money. Many don't and generic gifts are popular for a reason- it's because most people like them or at least can pass them on to someone else if not.

muddledmidget · 09/12/2020 21:21

Last year (when I had a team) I got them each a £5 gift voucher for our local coffee shop that we all used during breaktimes so they could have a couple of coffees or a coffee and cake on me. Would probably do the same this year if I was still with them (they're not working from home and the coffee shop is still open)

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 09/12/2020 21:25

I normally give my team a bottle of wine which works out around a fiver each but this year I’ve got a new team, we’re all working from and all live quite a distance away. Tried looking online but wine or chocs much dearer with delivery. Anyone got any cheap ideas ?

I’m not being a skinflint - it is a big team!

Sauvignonblanket · 09/12/2020 21:25

I got given some Prestat chocolates in a box that looked like half a Christmas cracker - that worked really well.

StillWeRise · 09/12/2020 21:27

flowers

Gufo · 09/12/2020 21:28

I'm going for the cafe voucher idea - it's a token gesture and I can email it rather than pay 6x delivery charges!

user1936863452 · 09/12/2020 21:34

Alcohol gifts are great unless the person belongs to a religion where alcohol is a big fat no, or has health issues that make alcohol dangerous, or is recovering from alcoholism...

It's a good way to make people feel shit.

wizzbangfizz · 09/12/2020 21:44

3/5 of mine are non drinkers

RB68 · 09/12/2020 21:51

Hotel Chocolat smallish box or one of their treat bars and such like.

Men like smelly candles too

Serin · 09/12/2020 22:32

What is your budget?

lillg · 09/12/2020 22:41

Working from home makes it so much more difficult. I normally buy some sweets or a bottle of wine. I live in Suffolk and my team (10) all live in Cumbria so this year I've had a look on Facebook marketplace for someone local who will deliver. They're getting a sweet hamper each.
I have in the past made my own wine or flavoured gin and some fudge and given that to them, but wouldn't be practical this year.

LifeOfBriony · 09/12/2020 22:43

Has anyone used Moonpig for gifts? Or Funky Pigeon? Moonpig have a box of Guylian chocolates for £8 on their site, which looks like a reasonable small gift.
