Christmas guest toilet

Am I going over the top if a put a little basket of about 20 white face towels in the guest toilet?
Having a few friends over for dinner & don't think it's too appealing to share a hand towel.(COVID)
Any suggestions of a container/basket to use for the used towels.

Can you have friends over where you live?

thunderandsunshine01 · 07/12/2020 22:34

Could you put some paper towels and a small bin in place instead? Seems more practical

JamesCracknelsBugle · 07/12/2020 22:35

This is a lovely idea. Prepare to be asked which Tier you are in. And for the disposal- a wastebin with a bag in it in the opposite corner.

I'm not in the UK.
Is finger food/nibbles a bad idea at the moment?

I’ve got friends coming for dinner and can’t decide what to cook.

Cheesypea · 07/12/2020 22:45

Kinda insensitive to be asking on a uk website op.

JamesCracknelsBugle · 07/12/2020 22:45

If you aren’t in the U.K. then no one can advise unless we know where you are.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 07/12/2020 22:46

That is what I have always done. Much nicer than a communal towel.

Gazelda · 07/12/2020 22:46

CAn you fit a linen basket in there?

JillyCareful · 07/12/2020 22:49

Pretend one of your friends has glitter on their fingers. Think of all the different things they might touch, that someone else might then touch. A plate of small tarts or individual canapés, ok as long as the plate isn’t being passed from one person to the next. But really, it’s the door handles, light switches, backs of chairs, flush handle on the loo, photo frames or books being passed around.

I'm in the Republic of Ireland. We are able to have home visits from December 18th.(3 different families)
Thanks,a small linen basket sounds nice.

You could use a bread basket as a bin for used ones.

I'd be tempted to leave a packet of antibacterial wipes and ask guests to wipe the flush and the taps when they are done.

wanderings · 08/12/2020 07:40

Take great care to get these words in the right order: "wipe the flush", not "flush the wipe".

AmIAWeed · 08/12/2020 07:47

When we had a bigger bathroom I used flannels all rolled up in a low wicker basket and a wicker bin to throw in used ones. They are small, cheap and easy to throw in the wash

OverTheRainbow88 · 08/12/2020 07:51

I would do finger foods/nibbles but have it served
Up so everyone has their own plate/bowl of them.

I would just use kitchen roll and leave a bin in the loo for it to be chucked in
