Music in room for 6yo DD

I’d like to give Dd(6) a way of listening to her own music either on headphones or in her room, but don’t want to put an Alexa in there. If we put a bluetooth speaker in there we’d still need something to connect to it & she is too young for a phone so wondered if MP3 player might be an alternative way to go?

We have Spotify already so I wondered is it possible to download songs from Spotify onto an MP3 player?

Any suggestions or recommendations for a cheap & cheerful setup welcomed.

Do you have an old smartphone? You could download the Spotify app and listen that way. Phones without a SIM are basically like tablets.
Otherwise a tablet connected to your home wifi would be the easiest way to stream music,

No, old smartphone will be going to her older brother soon. I think she’s too young to be given one of those anyway. She does have an Amazon fire kids tablet but not sure if we can configure that to stream music can we?

You can put spotify on a kids fire tablet.

Could you just stream from your phone?

Old skool here - dd had/has a cd player. She struggles to sleep so it has been brilliant for playing story CDs to fall asleep to. Lots of music still available on CD!

Yes we have cd players too :) ( and tape recorders and even a gramophone!)

I didn’t realise you could still get much on cd! Blush

Yes I can, just wanted a way for her to be able to do it by herself rather than relying on me to be nearby to switch it on. DS got an Alexa this year & DD is desperate for one but she is a fair bit younger than him so it won’t be for a while yet.

Of course you can stream from a Kindle Fire. So you most need a cheapy blue tooth speaker.

Or for more of a main present, the Yoto player is brilliant, you insert story or music cards and there are loads to choose from and loads being made all the time. You can easily make your own cards, or use it as a Bluetooth speaker too.

Or there is the Vtech Kidimagic music speaker, that has a light show, built in songs, and you can use it as a Bluetooth speaker or you can play MP3's with an SD card.

What is it about an Alexa you don't want her to have? My dd got one at 6, and it's great for Audible, bedtime mediations, music. She sets her own alarms on it for school. She uses the timer function, and she calls her dad on it.
