What can I get 12 yr old ds in biggish box?

Kids cost has spread equally ok but ds pile looks significantly small as the things are small... what can I get him in a big box?! He is autistic so whilst he understands money he will feel a little sad that sibling has ‘more’ and they are similar age so not like little kid has stuff in bigger boxes as they have ‘toys’.

He mainly games. But he has headphones, gaming mouse, decent laptop. Can’t buy a gaming chair as no space. Shares a room so don’t want to buy things like beanbags or cushions as they already have that. Isn’t into sports.... already bought clothes.... he does have some sensory toys but they are small hand sized items. Have already bought food presents also.... any ideas?!

Large box of crisps from amazon - I've bought my DS a 36 pack box of McCoy's. (I know you've said you have food items but just putting it out there!)

A bean bag

A Bluetooth pillow

Overwatch/ Xbox bedside light

Warburtons crumpets slippers and a dressing gown

Oodie type hoodie

Waffle maker

Shoebox full of chocolate or large selection box (can never have too much chocolate?)

Large scarf

Plant for his room

Framed poster for his room

I can’t get room stuff as he shares a room... I think he would look at me like I’m mad if I gave him a box of crisps although I would LOVE that! Gaming mouse mat looks cool...I already have chocolate and food stuff! Can’t get a waffle maker as other sibling was asking for one just this morning and I said no Hmm. A box full of random stuff may be an idea but most of his gifts are lots of small random stuff as he isn’t saying want he wants other than a game on the pc... so nothing I can wrap up! Oh that and Robux... again can’t wrap up...

I have also got him a Bluetooth speaker but again... it’s tiny!

He did want a launchpad but now gone off the idea as you have to link it up to a computer, not play it by itself...

Does he need wellies?!

myhobbyisouting · 02/12/2020 17:51

Or something long - metal detector?

Bvop · 02/12/2020 17:51

Oodie?

Yard of Jaffa cakes/Oreos from home bargains

Cushion for his bed

Framed poster

LED lights wrapped and switched on around a big plush cushion for his bed?
Teddy Duvet cover (maybe a double duvet too?) I surprised my 12 year old boy with a double duvet for his single bed with a teddy cover and he was so happy, he dived into it!
Does he need anything like a small table/bedside table? Maybe something flat pack but not too daunting that he can assemble with help? With a small tool kit?
Eskimo type Sherpa (v bulky and v cosy and very difficult to prise it away to wash)

A big fleece throw? Mine gets one every year, he's obsessed with them and always sits under one on the sofa.

AlwaysLatte · 02/12/2020 17:57

I meant to say, the day we changed his duvet we bought this mattress topper as well. It's like sleeping on a cloud! My son has always been really picky about his bed/bedding, some ASD traits, we think.

If you fancy getting a bit creative you could make a giant cheque for Robux out of cardboard, wrap it in wrapping paper and you have a big gift that he actually wants! Like those giant lottery cheques they have for photos Grin

AlwaysLatte · 02/12/2020 18:00

I love @MapleSpice's idea. Spot on!

NetballHoop · 02/12/2020 18:01

How about a kite? There's a large range of kites that you can choose from, not just your simple triangle on a string.

No idea if this site is any good, but it was top of my search: www.kiteworld.co.uk/acatalog/Beginners-Choice-p1.html

MapleSpice · 02/12/2020 18:01

@AlwaysLatte no idea where it came from, I'm sleep deprived with a newborn so I'm impressed I even had a suggestion Shock

jellybeanteaparty · 02/12/2020 18:04

Weighted blanket?

Timshortforthalia · 02/12/2020 18:05

A themed box of something?

We did this with ds when he was 9. It was a box of football and he remembers it fondly. This year I'm doing similar with both dc. So dd(12) is getting a box of room - framed posters, fairy lights, picture shelf etc and ds(11) is getting a box of basketball (ball and pump, socks, book and jd sports voucher)

Tryingtokeepsafe · 02/12/2020 18:43

I need to stay away from bedroom stuff.. long boring story but will cause more arguments which I don’t need! Kite is a good shout as is the cardboard cheque Grin I think I might just get a half decent size cardboard box, pack it out with tissue pack and put in loads of random bits... have seen some ‘gaming’ socks on amazon he would like, some sensory toys etc... love the idea of yard of Jaffa’s... he would like that too! He would love a blanket/throw but we have LOADS as he loves being under them. Have tried weighted blanket but didn’t get on with that.
