More pressure on supermarkets if there's less gatherings so more people cooking at home.

Does anyone else think this may be the case?
Just thinking if not laly say 3 or 4 households would join and decide not to this Yr.. Means 3 or 4 households needing a turkey, meat veg or whatever compared to just 1? OK so be smaller quantities but still more demand.
I'm. Not worried or anything just one of those things I got thinking about

I was thinking about this too - and that there will be high demand for small turkeys as there will be lots of groups of 2-6 instead of fewer groups of 12-20.
I’m buying and ordering well ahead but also happy enough to do this Christmas differently if needs be.

Me and dp were chatting about this the other day. I think supermarkets are going to be carnage this year, and things will sell out quickly. Honestky the local supermarkets are already crazily busy anyway.

Even more so in areas where restrictions are tighter, such as in Wales where no alcohol in pubs and closed by 6, and all attractions closed people need extra for all the home entertainment.

Someone (on MN) was saying that some farmers were doing half turkeys. Not sure how that works though but would be a good thing if they could. I think a lot of people may well be steering away from the traditional turkey and having other things.

M&S food to order look like they’ve sold out of small turkey crowns. I’ve ordered our turkey and ham, I can always freeze what we don’t eat, but I was a bit reluctant about the desserts as most are serves 8 and there are only four of us - I’ve ordered a couple of things anyway and we’ll see how we go. I’ve now bought all my non perishables and starting to buy things for the freezer and dairy products that have a long shelf life.

Morrisons sell Turkey legs, I'm not keen on the white meat, it's OK in sandwiches. We already have our bird in the freezer and we have been stacking up on snacks for a few weeks.

And this year is the first year that I haven't been able to get a Waitrose delivery slot!!! So I'll have to brave it. I'm going to try and buy most in advance (turkey & stuffing already ordered).

I'm not too concerned, I think the supermarkets have pretty sophisticated stocking systems on the whole. If I can't get something in one place, there are always alternatives - a different food, or a different store!

I've ordered a half turkey from a local turkey farm (all their small turkeys were reserved, so this seems a good compromise!).
