Gift ideas for brother and sister in law

I’m completely stuck for ideas of what to buy them. I usually spend £20. Added pressure that they have a box at the side for unwanted gifts to go straight to charity when unwrapping. We’re not that close so I don’t really know what they’re into anymore.

Personally I'd skip the risk of something being put in the box and just do a charity donation on their behalf. Maybe with a box of chocolates if you want them to have something.

Firstly, the box is extremely rude. Why not just agree you dont really need to exchange gifts as adults? Can say "the bit that matters to us is being together"

The box is shocking. Buy nothing.

  • Put together a food hamper. I've seen empty hampers at iceland and lidl, then you buy something yummy to go inside. Wine, cheese, crackers, chutney, membrillo, bacon jam etc?
  • Do they have a garden? Bird feeder, matching garden gloves, seeds, orchid, rose?
  • An activity voucher for when things open up. I did a yosushi class last year. I now make my own sushi and thoroughly enjoy it. Couples cocktail class, cooking course, BBQ tools, kitchen knives?

How rude that
a) they have a box
b) as a gift family member you are aware of 'the box'.
I'd not be buying anything.

Gift-buying

Get them a LendWithCare voucher www.careinternational.org.uk/ so they can invest with a small business somewhere. If they don't use it, it becomes a donation.

Or a FareShare fareshare.org.uk/ donation. Or Mary's Meals.

Don't waste your money.

A hamper sounds a good idea and I know my SIL is very into gardening so that’s a good shout too.
Unfortunately to save the peace we still buy for them even though yes the box is extremely rude.

Just give them a £20 voucher if you insist on buying. They are really rude!
