I’m thinking of getting a family game for us and am after your suggestions.

We currently enjoy uno, dobble and articulate. DC also like monopoly, pie face and in lockdown started playing card games.

DC are 10 and 12

Any firm family favourites you can suggest?

Carcassonne, ticket to ride, and what am I are firm favourites. This year were trying Risk. We are slightly younger though.

I personally love Labyrinth but we've played it to death and other people claim to be bored. To be fair they are super good at it and often help me.

You can make a game OP. I do this one every year and people of all ages in our family love it.

You need-
One small prize (chocolate works well)
A small sturdy cardboard box
Wrapping paper
Sellotape
Oven gloves
Santa hat
Dice x 2

Put the prize inside and wrap the box in multiple layers of wrapping paper. Seal well with sellotape (the more the better!).

The aim of the game is to roll a double number, put on the oven gloves then the Santa hat, and then you try and get the wrapping paper off. Whilst this is going on the dice is being passed round the circle and whoever gets the double numbers has to put on the hat and oven gloves and gets a go at the box. You’re not allowed to smash the box up or use your teeth or anything like that.

It is utterly hilarious! Especially if you’ve had a few drinks over lunch Grin

Rummikub
The sock game
Sleeping Queens
Ratatatcat
A Night at the Races (new, haven’t played it yet but it looks good, saw it in Dunelm)

I’ve just bought ticket to ride after seeing it again and again on mumsnet. I can’t for the life of me figure out how the game works. Anyone got a quick summary for a confused woman?
