MLMs on Virtual Christmas fair

My DD's school has set up a 'Virtual Christmas fair'. I had a look thinking there would be some nice, unique/unusual things from local businesses. I thought it would be a great opportunity to support local business as well as the school.

But the whole thing is awah with MLMs - with their boring products and extortionate prices. I thought MLMs were generally banned from selling groups? I'd love to support the school but I refuse to support big business that exploits women.

It's so annoying isn't it. We have a village one and all of the lovely local crafts are being missed due to the multiple posts per day selling knock of fragrance, Tropic and over priced Neils Yard, all with one 'like' from themselves.
Email the organisers and point out that these are large companies and MLM's so not appropriate for a school environment given they can cause financial difficulty for vulnerable people.

Yes one of our PTA members suggested it and I said no as it was likely all MLMs. People agreed.

I've sent a message to the pastoral care teacher about it. They work very hard to help families in need and this is just the opposite of that!

DS’s school’s virtual Christmas fair was exactly the same. I didn’t buy anything but lots of people posted on the group afterwards saying they’d bought loads and “spent up” so the MLM mums must’ve made a fair bit of money.

Unfortunately that level of support won't continue.

I forgot to say I messaged the admin on the group and they said if people want to start a franchise business that was their choice! I pointed out that MLM reps do not have franchise businesses and the only way they can make proper money is to recruit - which is why they are in essence pyramid schemes and these people will probably just end up in a lot of debt. He/She wasn't bothered! I find it so unethical.

Just to say I have found a few genuine small local businesses and will spend with them.
