Present wrapping tips

Does anyone have any present wrapping tips at all please?

My only one does not make the present look any better, but is much more comfortable - it’s to wrap sitting on the sofa with the present and paper etc on an ironing board in front of you.

One of the gifts I received last year was so well wrapped, I had serious wrapping envy. I think they used some sort of sticky dots & strips I’ve never seen before. I decided then & there I had to up my wrapping game for this year.

Any tips gratefully appreciated - thank you Smile

During the run up to your wrapping session, collect empty cardboard boxes and especially cardboard or plastic tubes. Put odd shaped difficult to wrap gifts in them.

Wrap the tubes to resemble crackers, they always look great under the tree.
Be creative with the embellishments, add things like tree baubles, an old glittery brooch, spray of greenery, spirals of wired ribbon, pine cones....

Paper with grid lines and measure out, cutting down to size.

I use selllotape in a dispenser as I can’t get on with double sided tape. But I tend to use small pieces of tape. (Before I got the dispenser, I used to cut my small pieces and line them up on the edge of the table before starting a present - no need to stop midway and cut when you have finally got an awkward corner folded and sitting right!!).

Finger fold the paper to get a good crease and look sharper.

I often tie the name tag onto my ribbons as less chance of coming off that way.

This year is a no bows year, for travel purposes (lots of posting so they’d all get crushed. But I usually do curly ribbon and add extra short pieces onto the knot in the middle, and then curl them all.

And yes, if you can, use boxes. Or wrap delicate things in tissue which helps make it easier to wrap as well as protecting them.
