Worried this isn’t enough for DS

DS is nearly 4 and this is what he’s getting . It’s only come to £70 in total so I’m wondering if it’s not enough as DH had mentioned how he thought it was normal to expect to spend around £100-150

Pyjamas
Book
Egg and spoon race toy
Police dress up kit
Playmobil submarine bath toy
Play dough
Toy biscuits
Cuddly toy

  • stocking fillers (the bits from Rex)

Does this sound enough?

I’m wondering if I should add some Lego or more playmobil

Sounds good to me, if questioning maybe a Lego or Playmobil set if you can afford. Mine haven’t asked for much this year from Santa and I am thinking two of them don’t have much. Don’t want to buy for the sake of it though.

My 3.5 dd is getting
Hubelino
Play doh set
Doll
Pushchair
Jellycat
and an Orchard game.
Stocking with smaller things in. She was the easiest to buy for this year.

Sounds great to me! Well rounded and rex London stocking fillers are great too.

Sounds great. At that age I didn't spend that much, though. Now my eldest is a teen I spend more. And I've never worried about a 'wow' present. My 2 are excited at all their presents no matter how big or small, to be honest.

I also think at this age, more smaller things to open are better than a big ticket item.

ImFree2doasiwant · 28/11/2020 19:10

I thinking sounds great. I'm really trying hard to do the same with my 2, but feel it's somehow not enough. They're 3 and 5 and have got each :
Lego set
2 books
Jigsaw
Number cubes (asked for)
Money box.
Board game between them.

RightioMalbec · 28/11/2020 19:11

I think it’s fine. My 4 year is having

A dressing gown (he specifically asked for!)
Mario Lego starter set (main present I suppose? Though I don’t get hung up on that with any of my DC)
A robot darts set
Wooden pancake set for his toy kitchen
Ukulele
Stocking with usual bits like book, little teddy, chocolate, pens.

NursieBernard · 28/11/2020 19:17

That all sounds lovely Smile I would probably add a board game that you can all play together, maybe one of the Orchard games ones and a few simple craft activities, if you don't have these in the stocking already. You probably wouldn't need to spend any more than £10-£15 extra for those.

I’m sorry but part of me finds this really sad
Kids will be happy with what they get and at that age have no concept of what others are getting, the more you give just the higher their expectations will be next year.
Resist the pressure to keep up with the Joneses!

carly2803 · 28/11/2020 19:50

that sounds like a lovely list!

i think kids are happy with lots of little toys they can play with on the day. I dont count pjs/books/shoes/clothes as their gifts as such under 6ish, they dont really see them as exciting for longer than 10 seconds. toys however...yes

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/11/2020 19:58

Sounds fine to me, i have 3 children (2yrs, 3yrs and 5yrs)

They get a joint present from father christmas, this year its a climbing frame which i got from facebook.

Then they each have

Playmobil set
Pjs
New outfit
Book
Colouring book
Stocking - pencils, fleecy socks, little notebooks, stickers, eggcups (they are obsessed with dippy eggs)

In total weve spent £250 so just over £80 each. They will get presents from family as well.

I think Christmas is getting the magical thing you KNOW only Father Christmas would bring.
The present you’ve always wanted or something you know your parents hate!
