Wrist warmers - enlighten me!

I keep on seeing these recommended as a present but why? What do they do? Do people get cold wrists? I'm asking as I have never seen them in the wild so to speak, just on MN!

Because if you have Raynauds (like I do) or just get cold hands, but need to type (so can't wear gloves) they help a little bit to keep you warm. Or you can wear them under gloves for extra warmth.

I guess your wrists are often exposed so it’s helps to keep you a little warmer.

I’d like some cashmere ones Grin

I wear wrist warmers. All of mine are cashmere. I get very cold hands but I have to be able to type so wrist warmers/fingerless gloves really help.

Good for WFH if (like me) you’re stingy with the heating - they keep your fingers warm enough to type.

I wear them when wfh as my house is cold and my hands get frozen, but I still have to type and write. They come up over the palms but leave most of the fingers free.

I love wrist warmers or fingerless gloves. Ideal for when you want to read a kindle or mess on your phone and keep your hands warmer. I am wearing some homemade ones right now instead of putting the heating on Grin

Interesting - thanks! Our flat always seems toasty, despite me turning the heating off so I guess they wouldn't be much use.

They are amazing.
I can watch endless football (curtailed due to covid) in wrist warmers in Oct and not look like I'm struggling with a British autumn, yet not have my fingers freeze. And still do some sneaky mumsnetting with a touch screen when the action moves to the other end of the pitch.
For reference: previous Autumn weather used to be a celebration of daily maximum temperature dropping below 40C.

Have a look at Turtle Dove. They recycle cashmere so a lot cheaper, and they do lots of different colours. I’ve got lots and they are lovely.

I agree, I bought myself some Turtle Doves last year on MN recommendation and found them pretty useless. I much prefer fingerless gloves with individual finger holes as mine kept rolling up!
