Suggestions for a gift for someone without her mum this year?

My best friends mum passed away this year and I know the first Christmas without her is going to be really tough.

I don't have my own children and dh daughter wasn't with us the first year I was without my mum so we had a very quiet day and it was hard, so I understand how difficult it's going to be, harder for her as she has children so can't ignore the day.

I want to get her something that will perhaps give her some small comfort something she can remember her mum by but I'm at a loss.

Any suggestions?

When my DGM passed I bought my mum a rose with my DGM name on it for that first Mother's Day after. I think it got registered as the "Elizabeth" (for example but insert mum's name) rose. She burst into tears when she opened it. It flowered each spring and my DM loved it. Gave some of the seeds to my aunt who also enjoyed watching it bloom.

It wasn't from this website, but same idea:

I thought I had lots of ideas but am drawing a blank - but I found really lovely notebooks a great comfort when my Dad passed away, being able to write to him/about him especially on special days made a big difference.

And a family member got my Mum a beautiful necklace of interlocking circles with my name, her name and Dad's name, one on each circle. Not sure if that's the sort of thing you're after?

Well what do you know about her mum? What sort of person was she?

Personalised ‘In Loving Memory....’ bauble/tree decoration. We’ve got a little white angel in memory of my Gran.
