Gifts for my team

I have a team of 4 dispersed around the country and would like to send them something (not alcohol) to thank them for their support during this tough year. Don't want to break the bank but wandered if others are doing similar and looking for ideas?

What's your budget and what are the ages?

pinkdragons · 27/11/2020 20:15

That sounds nice. I have never received anything from my current boss.
As a recent grad, my boss gave me a nice card and a box of the M&S v chocolatey biscuits. They're only about £4 but I really appreciated the gesture. And they were delicious. I'd only been there 2 months at the time.

What is the budget?

Titsinknicks · 27/11/2020 20:27

I'm thinking about this too. Was thinking a John Lewis/Waitrose £20 voucher

Nohomemadecandles · 27/11/2020 20:30

There's a company doing really nice employee letterbox gifts. She was on the news recently- set up whilst she was on furlough or similar.
I'd welcome anything if I were an employee. A nice card and a voucher or a box of biscuits. I'm easily pleased!

Look what gusts moonpig do?

Chimchar · 27/11/2020 20:36

I was lucky enough to receive a surprise box of chocolate brownies from a lovely friend from here...

They were to die for!

I planning to send my team a hamper each, M&S have some nice ones, with some £20-£30 ones if you didn’t want to spend too much.

Nohomemadecandles · 27/11/2020 20:39

It's called Colleague Box

Smallbus1 · 27/11/2020 20:46

Am I allowed to recommend my own business? Will delete if not and take no offense.

I’ve set up a giftbox business whilst on mat leave. Lots of options at various price points (from £12.50) - I sent 4 today from a boss to her team. I’ve nc’d for this but have been around for a while (honestly). If allowed I will share the link or shop name.

Catflapkitkat · 27/11/2020 20:53

smallbus1. What sort of things of do you sell?

piglet81 · 27/11/2020 20:56

@Chimchar I have eaten a lot of brownies in my time —glutton— but those ones are amazingly good!

ILovemyCatsSoSoMuch · 27/11/2020 21:07

Placemarking, I have a dozen to buy for. No more than £15. Might do a voucher but for the more senior people in the team they’d find it a bit odd to receive a £10 or £15 voucher, whereas a gift wouldn’t look odd.

I normally bring in chocolates for everyone and buy Christmas party drinks. Not this year!

Smallbus1 · 27/11/2020 21:11

@Catflapkitkat different themed giftboxes - a ‘chocolate lover’s’ box, a spa box with bath salts, artisan soap, spacemask, tealights plus a couple of other things, a ‘just because’ box with tea, popcorn, tealights, a flower press and seedballs. And a few others :)

Smallbus1 · 27/11/2020 21:13

My giftbox shop is www.etsy.com/uk/shop/elizaandted/

Again if not allowed I will delete :)

wizzbangfizz · 29/11/2020 16:51

Thanks all I have 3 men who are all keen biscuit eaters and a lovely lady who is my PA - in her late fifties. I was planning on about £10 each.

I usually buy a small gift for each of my team (Hotel Chocolat or M&S Prosecco in last couple of years). I’d like to do this this year but we are all wfh not sure I can ask for addresses (GDPR). Any suggestions? I could send electronic vouchers but not everyone is near M&S/J Lewis etc and I can’t afford to spend enough to make it worthwhile them ordering online and paying shipping. Any ideas?

ILovemyCatsSoSoMuch · 01/12/2020 19:02

Re addresses - how many in the team? If not too many you can just ask them so you can ‘send them a card’.

And if it’s from the company, as opposed to you personally, I’m sure you can get addresses from HR.

I’m still stuck. £15 per person, but if you look at what you can buy for £15 including postage it doesn’t look like a very generous present, and yet it will have cost me £200 or so.

TolstoyAteMyHamster · 01/12/2020 19:13

Following with interest as I really don’t want to post 20 gifts! Anyone sending things direct is going on my list. I’m wondering about placing a bulk order with a bookshop.

ILovemyCatsSoSoMuch · 01/12/2020 20:57

I’ve gone for... novelty warm slippers!

Sounds crazy, but give them a laugh but also keep feet warm while WFH. I’ve had them sent to me so I’ll have to post out, but the other problem for getting sent direct is finding somewhere that does gift tags and also getting the timing right (too soon isn’t right, leave it too late and might be out of stock). You can buy postage online so I won’t need to do each one at the post office counter.

There’s some in a wider team who won’t get the joke, I’ll send chocs to them.
