Any ideas for my friend?

It's her birthday just before Christmas and I'm really struggling to think of what to get her. We live quite far apart, so it needs posting and I'm also - because I haven't been in her house for nearly a year! - don't know exactly what she's got at the moment.

  • Can't be chocolate / food as her family's Christmas present is a massive box of posh chocolates;
  • Not smellies / candles because I recently sent her a pamper present due to a bereavement;
  • Had several years of hamper-type presents, so would like to avoid those (e.g. film + popcorn etc.);
  • She's teetotal (or as good as).

She loves reading books, but I'm not sure what she has / hasn't got, and last year I embarrassingly bought her one I'd got her the year before. She likes cooking but she's not super confident, and doesn't have a lot of time. She's got a busy job, which she's very good at (and very under-appreciated in, terrible bosses). She's doing up her house, but I'm not sure what everything looks like now as I've not been there for ages. She lives in a rural area, so wouldn't necessarily get the chance to use vouchers / any experiences that are going to open. She's very organised and sensible, so I had a look at Paperchase but couldn't see anything online that I liked.

Budget is about £20-30. Happy to spend up to £35 as long as it doesn't look like I've spent £35, IYSWIM, as she would get cross if it was obvious I had.

Any ideas gratefully received! Flowers

I'd send a bouquet. Bloom&Wild do really good letterbox bouquets.

Small luxury stationery for example from Smythsons. That's what I'd like. Or cashmere gloves.

Seconding bloom and wild. Really lovely flowers and presented beautifully with little notes as to how the stems were selected and how to care for them.

My code gets you (and me) £10 off if you'd like to use it Daffodil

I recently bought this book for a book-loving friend: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1784709220/?psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&coliid=I7Z6KH6A67O94&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&colid=1NFBZ51I2OYB3

Or something like a Dock and Bay hair turban and a good quality hair mask?

Does she drink tea? I bought my mum a Kinto Unimug and some loose leaf tea, a posh tea spoon and a packet of nice biscuits.

Does she garden? You could do a hamper with gloves, trowel, string, seeds, plant labels, etc.

These are super comfortable and once you have one you wonder how you did without, fab for reading in bed at night.
