My daughter is non verbal so unable to tell me , she also doesnt really like any toys she will just carry things around room, she loves hey duggee so ive brought quite a bit of hey duggee stuff, just wouldnt mind autism friendly calming toys or anything senosry that u thought was good. I was looking at the wooden activity cubes or busy boards but they seem quite small and expensive

My dd loved musical instruments at that age, she was non verbal until 4, music really helped her and still does. Puzzles were always a big hit too and duplo/Lego. Kenetic sand and scented playdough is something dd has always loved, she’s now 14 and still loves kenetic sand for sensory play.

Thank u for the ideas, she eats everything so bit of nightmare with playdough or KSand, she has quite a few musical instruments already ,puzzles she just isnt able to do , even very simple ones . its so hard to buy for her , her birthday is in January too!

We have got her a climbing frame as she loves climbing, including all the furniture and has so sense of danger! Not sure if it was good idea or not !

How about a sparkly light up wand?

Well worth a look on their website, especially if you think she might like some sensory toys.

I recently bought my ASD child a very soft fleece blanket along with a very fluffy rug/mat & had a very happy child! Presents don't always need to be a toy in my experience x

Sensory toys - my DD absolutely loves these lights [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/Playlearn-Colour-Changing-Crystal-Filled/dp/B00H4F8UX8/ref=sr_1_20?keywords=sensory+toys&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1578842780&sr=8-20#]] - she likes to use them to brush over her face or arms.

If she is a sensory seeker then Gelli Baff is good, and so are the Orbeez water beads, if you look on amazon for Orbeez or for water beads there are all sorts of brands including ones that are really cost effective. One of the big jugs of them lasted us all the way through lockdown and it was less than £10.

Don't know what happened to that link! This is the LED light one www.amazon.co.uk/Playlearn-Colour-Changing-Crystal-Filled/dp/B00H4F8UX8/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My DS (5 with some additional needs) loved his peanut ball last year - for sensory (rolling on it, bouncing) but also good for gross motor / physio. Decathalon do a child sized one and it wasn't expensive.

My boy is is 9 now and autistic and the presents that have gone down well with him are indoor trampoline, sensory socks, bubble guns, kinetic sand, anything that spins or he could line etc. Toy hoover, scooter, pogo stick (foam ones are easier to use) and also tablets tend to be a big hit with most kids that are on the spectrum

What about some soft play type items?

They are great for getting out so they can throw themselves around.

Or a tent. My ds loved his and would lay in it in a sleeping bag in the lounge for hours Grin

Lisamac1988 · 21/11/2020 21:19

They sell sensory boxes on amazon and eBay too with loads of fidget Tyrone toys and squeeze balls etc

Duggeehugs82 · 21/11/2020 21:25
