What gadgets can I buy autistic DC (16)?

My teenage DC isn’t interested in any of the usual things, their autism means that she has such random ideas and at the moment it’s gadgets. Any ideas of suitable gadgets which I can buy for Christmas? She already has multi tool, fidget toys, numerous Lego sets, torches. But I can’t think of anything she might like. I’m desperate. My other DCs are much easier to buy for and it hurts. ☹️

I’ve got my son (12) a beanie hat with Bluetooth that can play music from his phone, a Polaroid photo printer- prints direct from his phone and it also lets you embed videos in the photo that you can see when you look at the photo through the app on your phone.

Also got him lots of components for electronic circuits, a pen multi tool, bubble fogger (let’s you blow fog filled bubbles) new surge protected power supply that has lots of different things to it (sounds odd but he’s completely obsessed with electronics and power and has been obsessed with plugs since a baby and he will really be excited to get this)

He had a 3d printer last year (you can get them for around £100) , previous presents have been a cheap Wacom graphics tablet. If you have the budget he’s always wanted one of those moleskine smart notebooks. I want one too!

He’s also loved plasma lightning ball thing. Will come back when I think of more!

Raspberry Pi?

My dd has ASD too and this is the first year I have struggled, she’s almost 15 and loves gadgets and building things. Her dad is getting her gravitrax as she loves marble runs, I have bought her a Lego technics set and a couple of the ‘think fun’ games as they are 1 player puzzle type games (such as rush hour), she loves rubix cubes and sudoku. I have bought her sister a weighted blanket which dd2 tried out and now wants her own.

I have been looking at things such at the “build a robotic hand” but I’m not sure if she would do it. Crystal growing has been a big hit.

Lovemusic33 · 21/11/2020 15:36

Smart games have some great puzzle games for various ages.

We have IQ fit which has various levels of difficulty.

This pinball game went down well in our house.

Would she like simple things like a spirit level, or a compass?

A battery tester

My asd ds keeps wandering off with my airpods because the case is a very satisfying fidget (I can see his attraction). Maybe a cheap copy of them?

Another thing he likes is my power bank which has a heat function and a torch.

What about one of those jumbo multicolour pens? Or a folding scissors

@Goldistheanswer

Not sure if this sort of thing would be right but the mad museum

Small musuem in Stratford does gadget type toys to make.. Like marble runs that work by themselves... London scape that all moves?

MeringueCloud · 21/11/2020 21:57

Hex bugs

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 21/11/2020 22:20

Alexa and coloured lightbulb that goes with it went down well here.

Weve had hex bugs (have some to give away currently) which was ace. Gravitrax didnt seem ti go down well. Rush hour dud.
Escape room type packs? Computer console/games?

A rollercoaster thing from knex.

Weighted blanket was good but also a sort of sock you sleep in. A sheet that goes round the bed called a compression sheet. Fidget toys galore.

Redyoyo · 21/11/2020 22:41

An Echo Show they are down to £40 just now.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, I’m off to google them. It makes me so sad for her when birthdays and Christmas comes around, the realisation that she doesn’t like the usual presents that a 15 year old would usually want. I know we’re all different and people have various interests but as she’s growing up, I can see her becoming more withdrawn and isolated. I hope I can find a few things which she may like.
