Decent Sack Bulkers for 12 year old...

My middle DD is getting a laptop for Christmas as well some quite expensive stuff for her pony. (that she asked for)

She wasn’t shy on her list and absolutely knows she won’t get everything but at the same time I do feel a bit rotten than she won’t get a decent pile of presents from Santa (we like to keep the magic alive here) I have got her a few stocking fillers, a knock off Oodie and a few books but I’m still looking for a few sack fillers that are cheap but not tat.

She’s not into makeup but does have quite a quirky dress sense, she’s sporty, clever, loves to read, LOVES friends, would do a craft if put in front off her but not particularly fussed about them...

She basically spends her time in a pair of jodhpurs, nose in a book, watching friends of making us all laugh...

Help!!

Well we have a stocking which has stocking fillers and then Santa also brings a sack full of presents too, normally it’s quite a full bulky affair but because she is getting a laptop this year it won’t be, when i said bulkers what I meant were fairly inexpensive presents that would still give her a full sack...

Just seen that Aldi have a whole range of Friends bits coming up. Include some nice cushions/blankets that would take up a fair bit of space!

AngryPrincess · 20/11/2020 17:42

A nice cushion with a picture of a horse, or even with a photo of her actual horse?

CraazyCatLady · 20/11/2020 23:06

In fact just type 'friends' into Amazon and there's tones of cool presents. Fleecy blankets, bedding, clothing, games etc

Inpeace · 20/11/2020 23:08

I was just musing on a v shaped pillow for avid in bed reading 13 year old, cuddly & makes a big parcel

@Aponcetasticchristmastoall could you adopt me? Grin I want someone to do stockings for my horses.
Does she do a particular discipline? There might be something for that.

Please see the latest Aldi leaflet OP, a few pages on Friends presents coming online tomorrow and in store in a week. Duvet covers, cushions, fleece blankets, stationery etc.

  • A necklace with a horse / horse shoe pendant.
  • A hoodie personalised with her and her horses name.
  • Some nice bath stuff such as bath bombs, bubble bath etc as you need a good soak after a long winters day at the stables.
  • furry slippers.
  • Throws and cushions for her bed
  • new riding boots/muck boots/yard boots
  • one of those cafe style message boards with the letters you can use to make your own message.
  • a action camera (cheap version of a go pro but closer the he £20 price range) with a strap she can use to attach to her riding helmet and take footage when riding.
  • projection alarm clock that will display the time in the ceiling or wall.
  • Bluetooth speakers that do the light up dancing water thing.

horse diary - loads on Amazon
disco ball - just to make her room jazzy
tie dye kit and plain t shirts for her to express her style
bird feeder to hang near to bedroom window. I did see some that
stick to the glass but don't know if this makes the birds fly into the glass?

Callipygion · 29/11/2020 18:07

If you really do want “sack bulkers” try putting presents in bigger boxes to disguise what they are. One year I wrapped a pair of shoes separately in boxes 🤣🤣

Aldi have a whole load of Friends bits and bobs at the moment as do quite a few other places. How about film snacks Eg popcorn in a bucket with a film night voucher or month of Netflix if you don't have it. My 13 year old is not remotely bothered about having a big pile of presents, stuff tends to go back in the sack, once opened and often stays there for ages. She's getting mainly clothes this year,- her choice, also getting a jumbo hoodie!

We have this www.amazon.co.uk/Meripac-Complete-Window-Feeder/dp/B0012UUXRW/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=window+bird&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1606687386&sr=8-5 it's utterly brilliant. Hours of excitement with sparrows and bluetits and one of the best things I've ever bought online. They don't fly into the glass.

I'm sort of sad that we go to such lengths to 'bulk ' out Christmas. Am l seriously missing something here?

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 29/11/2020 22:36

Pyjamas
Cushion
Water bottle
Fleecy blanket
Hat
Gloves
Scarf

DobbleBobble · 29/11/2020 23:30

My 12 yr old wants pops and did last year too. He gets some but we extend it to decorating his room. Nice bedding, framed film posters ...

spababe · 01/12/2020 15:41

Thanks @nerysw - I've added it to my wishlist

Lovemusic33 · 01/12/2020 15:49

Aldi have friends bedding and possibly blankets.

A board game?
Sweet hamper?
Dressing gown?

I always had a sack when I was a kid, we didn’t do stockings.

Since my dc’s stopped believing we have got rid of sacks and just put gifts under the tree so no one can compare piles (presents are all mixed and placed under the tree). I think from the age of 11/12 piles get a lot smaller but items tend to be more expensive. My dd1 only has 5 gifts this year but one has cost me a lot. We still do stockings and dd1 says that’s the best bit. Don’t buy things for the sake of it as I’m sure your dd will be more than happy with they things you have already bought.
