Manga/anime-related gifts

I’m after some last small bits for my DS who is 12. I’ve scoured the threads on this board and have come across references to ‘anime/manga stuff’ for similar aged children. My DS likes anime/manga too...hasn’t specifically asked for anything related to it but I’m wondering if he might like it.

So could anyone share what ‘stuff’ they buy for their kids as gifts related to anime/manga? My DS likes drawing so any recommended books about drawing in this style would be great or maybe graphic novels??

Does he have any specific series he is interested in?
Depending on if he does.
You can buy figures. Or manga.
Plushies.
Posters.
Theres a couple of sites.
Forbidden planet.
Travelling man sites. They sell manga related figures etc

The Hayao Miyazaki collection of studio ghibli films.

Do you have a 'magazine heaven' shop hear you? I got my dd some toroto things from there (pencils and cute little note cards) it does lots of manga books too. Ebay is also good for manga. I got my dd a nightmare before Christmas manga edition as she loves both.

I got DS (11) some Japanese sweets and drinks from www.japancentre.com. I preferred to choose my own so I know he’ll like the flavours rather than choose a package off Amazon.

I was in the works tonight and saw a book on how to draw manga with pens, it must of been under a tenner or there about!

You can buy ramune from Ocado and Morrisons- much cheaper than online.

DS is 13 and is a big fan of the Naruto books, he has had them for 2 or 3 years though so not sure if they might be a bit young?

I second the Japanese drinks and sweets option.

Be careful when buying manga/anime, some of it is not suitable for kids. There can be some very graphic violence/sex scenes. We were caught out with the original Dragonball books and some of the cartoons on Netflix.

I’ve found Aliexpress good for anime gifts, and Asian supermarkets sell a lot of the foods and snacks for considerably less than online sites.

I've ordered my dd some japanese food and novelty bits from blippo, kawaii style pins, plushes and stationary from wish. If you know what characters he likes or favourite animal loads comes up.

Also saying be careful you are monitoring what anime he is watching. My dd is nearly 12 and there's some she certainly won't be watching yet as its far too graphic. Me and DH have watched quite alot between us so thankfully we have watched most of what she wants to see first. (our wedding rings are based on rings from one of our favourite anime films!)

Another idea is a calligraphy book and pen set. Ive got one in my basket for my dd. Last year I got her a comic book notebook. So its all laid out ready to draw your own comics.

Cosplay items for his favourite anime? I bought dh a Tokyo ghoul mask a few years ago and I've got him an attack of titan hoodie. Ive also bought replica swords from final fantasy before.

There's lots of funko pop ranges now, maybe there's one for his favourite characters?

We have a few film cell frames and movie posters from our favourite films.

Not manga but there is a mammoth amazing 1300 page graphic novel called Bone

Bone

There is a little bit of innuendo but it is suitable for a 12. It is very funny and engaging.

A bit out there but how about a book or something to learn Japanese? My bro picked it up when he got into anime and manga x

Ooh maybe the kingdom hearts games? For ps4, switch etc. It's kind of disney and final fantasy mashed up, anime style characters and stuff.
