Art stuff for 10 year old

My DSD loves to draw and make comic books. She's had blank comic strips, nice pens etc and I'm really struggling with something different to get her this year that's a bit more grown up. I've looked a light boxes for tracing but they either seem a bit basic or are the expensive animation boards that I don't think were quite up to yet.

Can anyone recommend some not too babyish and perhaps different art stuff for a 10 year old? Thanks

Watercolour pens, also, pots of ink...many cartoonists use inks for colouring.

Fine line pens, a drawing board...one of those that's like a sort of lap easel. A good, strong adjustable light so she can work with proper vision, an artist's desk.

Wacom graphics tablet.

Wacom graphics tablet.
Whilst I like the idea of these, age tends to like to take things with her when we go places so something that she could draw on as the screen (if that makes sense) would be preferred. I know you can get apps for tablets but I'm reluctant to buy more screens that could be used for other purposes too.

A drawing board is a good shout. It's her birthday also in January and we plan to do her bedroom so she'll have a desk and her own space to be creative.

The Works used to do canvases and stands at a good price plus acrylic paints. Watercolour sketch books and watercolour pencils - I want to say Caran D'Ache.
Dd's a teenager and uses Spectrum Noir pens.

We got DD artist quality pencils at that age - not many but a range of colours. They were the best we could afford. She has now gone on to one of the top art schools. Best thing you can give her is encouragement.

I’d think again about a graphics tablet.

DS got one at her age, and it’s been amazing. He’s now upgraded as it was a cheap one, but really inspired him.

Or a software animation package?

I have my own craft shop and for this age usually recommend watercolour pencils, acrylic paint sets and blank or printed mini canvases, paint by numbers, calligraphy sets or if you wanted to move away from art towards craft maybe a Decopatch kit or a scraper foil set.

I'm not really sure I understand your reasoning with the graphics tablet, yes it needs to be plugged in to a computer to work, but she should still be practicing her paper drawing skills so couldn't she just take a sketchpad and pencil case when you are out and about? Digital art is a different skill to master and fits in well with the comic book style and enjoys.

But other ideas, a drawing mannequin (The Works sell them cheaply) acrylic pens, multi talented pencils, good quality pencils and fineliners, good quality watercolours.

Polymer clay is good. Another hit with dd1 and her friends has been soap carving.
