Might a 4yo be disappointed with this construction set?

I bought the toy shown in the photos for a friend's 4yo. He likes Lego etc so thought it looked good but when I've opened it, it's a bit underwhelming inside. It does say the age range is 4-9. I think if the box was smaller and actually just fit the case (instead of all the empty room in the box) it mightn't be so bad.

Can anyone help - I've bought a dinosaur race track for his older brother so want to make sure this 'matches' in excitement and fun levels IYKWIM.

My son turns 4 next month and he would really love this! I've been considering Brio Builder because he really loves screwdrivers but something like this looks a good thing to get out at the table and put away again like a puzzle without losing all the bits in the living room. So I think it looks like a brilliant present. Where did you get it from please?

I think it looks great!

I think it looks great but doesn't seem to have all the bits it shows on the front e.g. the longer bits. Are you sure there are no more bits inside? If not; maybe worth contacting the manufacturer to see if you can buy more - it really does look fab but maybe a bit limiting what you could make with it

That's a lovely gift. No concerns at all.

My 4.5 year old would enjoy that, but might outgrow it after a year or so. The screwdriver is pretty cool, I think it would keep him busy and is something he can play with on his own.

The packaging is a bit underwhelming and it is probably isn’t as exciting as a dinosaur race track, to be fair (but quite honestly, i doubt there is anything as exciting as a dinosaur race track!). But it is Christmas, and he will receive shed loads of noisy toys, this might be something he will play with for many months and his parents will be thank you for something that he can play with independently.

My lo has a few of these and has always enjoyed them. Looks great.

DS1 (4.5) has one of those peg things at DMs but without the screwdriver...he loves it and will spend a good hour copying the example pictures.

Thanks so much to you all - I might stick with it so. I do worry it's not as exciting but I don't want to give one of them 2 (albeit smaller) pressies and the other 1 big one.

I promise I'm not advertising it Grin, but for the PP asking it was on one of the Christmas gifts thread - I've tried searching but can't find it now. I'm in ROI so found a local site that sold it, but it's also on Amazon if you search for "quercetti tecno " it comes up as the Amazon's choice.

It looks great. It does look like a copy of Knex or similar but what 4yo is going to know that?

A lot of seemingly wow toys often get ignored because they don't live up to the expectations. He might not seem blown away by it but I think the enjoyment will last far longer than a fad "must have" toy.
It's also a fun way of learning STEM skills
