Christmas Eve

Christmas has always been the best event of my life. I've decorated my home and bought Xmas trees and making it an eye-catcher by using the dim the bulbs. But this year due to covid I'm not able to do it because it is out of my budget. If you have some suggestions where I can get it at a low price. I would love to do it if it's in my budget. Thanks

What are you asking op? Where to get cheap decorations? Why Christmas Eve?

Do you not have last years decorations?

BoulangerieBabs · 13/11/2020 10:27

Yes surely you can just re-use last years decs? We never buy new ones every year.

And I'm baffle by 'dim the bulb' so could you explain?

LadyCatStark · 13/11/2020 10:31

??

mam0918 · 13/11/2020 15:30

are you asking where to get a tree?

thats the only thing I could figure you mean as if you use real ones they die, any supermarket sells reusable fakes often fairly cheap. You should still have all your decorations and lights unless you just moved country etc...

can I ask why xmas EVE? Seems a waste to wait so late to do it

abigaillie · 14/11/2020 07:08

I have shifted to other place so during the shifting it got damaged. That's why I'm buying the new xmas tree and lights.

The best place to buy a tree would be the supermarket. Perhaps get a small £15-30 one. Have a look for lights and big packs of baubles in Home Bargains or B&M etc. I hope you can recreate a lovely Christmas

Hi we brought this Christmas tree this year, as we had move house at the start of the first lockdown out of our parents house. It's not expensive and it does the job and is actually a really good tree. We then got our lights from B&M we're around £5-7 something like that. Also B&M do really good bauble packs we didn't get ours from there in the end but what we saw they looked good

You can buy Christmas trees from as little as £10/15 and baubles from the pound shop. THe Range, Home Bargains, B and M and Argos all sell them too. Honestly, some of the baubles/tree decorations from The Range look as nice as my John Lewis or Next ones.

Sheknowsaboutme · 14/11/2020 09:01

Aldi have a great Range of bulbs. Just bought berry ones for the kitchen for £8.99. Traditional red green blue ones and they also have pastel coloured lights

I like these people https://www.lights4fun.co.uk

The right online retailer is always going to be better value than a super market. Enjoy

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 14/11/2020 09:12

Try Wilko. They are still open OP.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 14/11/2020 09:13

Shame your decorations got damaged in the move.

thelegohooverer · 14/11/2020 10:06

Are you keeping an eye on free sites - neighbour hood apps and free cycle? And selling sites? This is the time of year when people would usually be making a bit of space at home, and now the charity shops shut so if you can collect it, you may find people delighted to give things away.

ohidoliketobe · 14/11/2020 10:11

Aldi lights are good quality and low priced, they've just come in stock as special buys on the website and in store

abigaillie · 18/11/2020 09:53

Maybe ask if any shops selling real trees have any they cannot sell by mid december. They might want to get rid and donate rather than binning.

*Bought. If you buy something, then it is "I bought" If you bring something somewhere, then it is "I brought"
DC3Dakota · 18/11/2020 15:11

@stellarobee Those are American coupons

Lovemusic33 · 18/11/2020 16:18

Look on market place for decorations, I have seen quite a few advertised local to me. Most decorations are reduced after 1st of December in places like B&Q. I make most of my decorations, collect pine cones, dry orange slices etc.l

Teacup34 · 18/11/2020 20:49

We moved house at the end of december last year so I couldn't put my tree up till the 22nd, I brought a real tree from wilko a few days before the move for £12 should have been £24 so if you like to put your tree up closer to Xmas it's worth looking there!! Also you could make homemade decs like paperchains, popcorn on a string, salt dough or as previous poster suggested collecting pinecones or drying Orange slices. You could collect twigs spray them white or with glitter and add battery operated fairy lights from the poundshop.
