Hi all,

We found out today that our Lapland 2020 trip has been cancelled 😢 our daughters are currently 6 and 4. We chose this year as we really wanted the magic to be real and for them to both believe. My eldest DD is very naive- she will be nearly 8 if we go next year and my youngest DD will be 5. Just wanted to get some opinions on these ages and if it will be just as magical? I hope so- I still really want to go next year!

My 8 year old would love to go to Lapland and still very much buys into the magic (whether he believes or not... I'm not sure)

My DD was 8 when we went. Perfect age. It was quite a gruelling day, -17, lots of time outdoors doing stuff and she was just the right age to not mind the cold or get too tired. You'll have a fantastic time.

Thank you! I really hope she will and that the whole experience will be just as magical. We have a week to decide whether to move the booking or get a refund, so I thought it was worth looking for some opinions on here!

We did it at 4 and it was the best day ever you will love love love it ! Never mind the children it simply is adorable worth the travel the money everything

We took our daughter when she was 8. We felt it was the perfect age, as she still believed in Father Christmas, could enjoy all the activities without getting too tired and old enough to remember the magical experience when she's older.

Lottie2017 · 10/11/2020 17:36

Oh thanks everyone! I really want to go- I was hoping we could get there this year but it wasn't to be. It feels good to hear opinions from people who have been- thank you!

My dc was 9 when we went. She still believed and it was amazing.
10 years ago nearly and I still well up when I think about it.

My 8 year old still believes in Santa. Wouldn’t say she is particularly naive. A boy at school told her that Santa didn’t exist but I told her that Santa only comes to people who believe in him. She’s decided he definitely exists. She’s beginning to have her doubts about the toothfairy however! Grin

I think 5 and 8 are great ages for Lapland, and they will remember it which they might not if they were younger.

FippertyGibbett · 10/11/2020 17:39

Yes, they will love it at any age. It’s amazing but tiring.
If I were to go again I’d stay a night.

I took DH and DS age 36 and age 4 and they both still loved it. It was magical and both believe.

/ misses the point.

I think your DD’s are the perfect age. Certainly not too late for your eldest. My DD still believed until she was 10.

WreckTangled · 10/11/2020 20:14

Agree with everyone else. We went when dd was 8.5 (she still believes now two years later) and ds was 6. It's just the most amazing time. I can understand you must be disappointed but I really think you'll get more out of it next year anyway. I wouldn't have wanted to take a child younger than five, there was a girl of 3 or just 4 when we went and she cried a lot of the time because she was just so cold. I would go every year if I could!

Lottie2017 · 10/11/2020 20:56

Thank you everyone, this has made me feel so much better and more positive about going next year 😊

I have taken mine at various ages between 4 and 11. I think your youngest will enjoy it much more at 5 than at 4. Our 4 year old found it a bit cold at times. And at 8 your eldest will love it - it isn't just the Santa bit, there is lots more and she will enjoy it whatever age!

WeeM · 10/11/2020 23:16

Honestly you will have the most amazing time, it’s probably the best holiday I’ve ever been on from start to finish. I also well up thinking about it now!
