Bath products for allergies

My lovely sister in law has had a new bathroom fitted very recently. I'm hoping to buy her some nice bath products (bubble baths, salts, oils etc) but she has bouts of severe eczema and a nut allergy.

Before I nix this gift idea, does anyone have an experience with 'naice' bath product for super sensitive skin?

Have a look at Queen Bee Essentials ...they do lovely products including all over baby balm for people with skin conditions.

Sorry should read Queen Bee Naturals

I wouldn't buy smellies at all for her. They could too easily cause a reaction and be wasted.

Buy her a really nice candle.

Neom candles are nice

PlanDeRaccordement · 09/11/2020 17:38

I’d take direct approach and ask her what products are her favourites.
With allergies and eczema there is no 100% safe product that doesn’t affect someone.

PenOrPencil · 09/11/2020 17:38

Don’t buy skin products for somebody with eczema, it’s more than likely that she won’t be able to use it.
The only “safe” thing is Dead Sea salt (unscented), but that’s a bit boring!
I second a really nice candle - Neom candles are divine.

Honestly I would ask her what she uses. My dd has a nut allergy and she can use most bath bombs from lush and the body shop. But with eczema I would definitely ask as it's so easy to aggravate it.

dirtyfries · 09/11/2020 17:44

Thanks all, I think I may well go the candle route. She never treats herself and loves a bath which is why I was thinking this route but you're right - it's not worth risking a reaction.

As another allergies person, don't get her anything that touches her skin.

I'd hesitate to get her a scented candle, either, unless you know that she already uses them.

If you want to get her something luxurious for her to use in her lovely new bathroom, how about some really high quality soft facecloths and bath pillow, or a waterproof radio, or a waterproof case for her tablet/phone.

My gran was allergic to something in bath products, we never figured it out so she just had water in her baths.

DinosaurOfFire · 09/11/2020 19:42

@Fivemoreminutes1 I would be allergic to both those products due to eczema, lavender oil in the first pus it has walnuts which the OP said was an allergen, and the 2nd has milk powder and oats (which for me would trigger a reaction), both of which are high allergens and the product doesn't list a full ingredients list so it couldn't be guaranteed safe.

@dirtyfries I would either go with something you know she already uses, or go for bath accessories like a nice (plain) candle, luxurious flannel etc.

treeeeemendous · 09/11/2020 20:00

Honestly just don't. Anything smelly that I get given just gets given away Sad

TheCrow · 09/11/2020 20:07

Maybe do her a nice bath kit but without any skin products- one of those wooden boards that go across the bath with a holder for your phone and a glass of wine, mini bottle of wine and some chocs, candles. Then she can use the products she knows are ok and still have a pamper session

My DD has nut allergies too and eczema.... i would dodge the stuff that touches her skin like PP have said and go the lovely candle route. Also the White Company do a lovely bathmat with their logo embossed on it that looks soo spa-hotel-luxe that I would love it if someone gave me that for my new bathroom.

PenOrPencil · 09/11/2020 20:23

Or some really luxurious towels / a new bathrobe.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 09/11/2020 20:42

As above, just don't do it.
I find the expensive stuff and natural ingredients worse, yet no reactions from 80p wilko own shower gel.

InDreamland · 09/11/2020 20:50

Like PP's have alresaid definitely avobuying her any toiletry products. I get bad eczema and have a food allergy so any gifts I get that are bath/shower and moisturising prosucts, no matter how posh and expensive they are end up being re-gifted sadly. If I'd just had a new bathroom though I'd love a new set of lovely luxurious bath towels (bath sheet, matching hand towel and face cloth with a bath mat and loo mat) that match my bathroom colour scheme.

This ^^ plus a neom candle. My skin reacts to so many really random things so let her just buy what suits her or ask her if you really want to give her some bath products too.
